Mod Watch: Starfield Modder Scams Gamers

This account has once more become active, but at a limited capacity. Content posted here only as a backup if no better option is available. ModDB is still lost to me, but at least the IndieDB segment still has value.

Ah yeah I saw YongYeah talk about this.
Absolute scumbag behaviour, no better than the big AAA companies that force ****** DRM or some other "anti-piracy" measure into their products... -,-
Tell me about it. Since 2021, some users started getting the idea that they could manipulating the modding world to cheat their way through accolades and other events, or even scam players, usually by disguising their games (or other products) as 'mods'.
It has become a trend and it is getting out of hand now. Even some of this community on this site has been condoning and endorsing this kind of crap, be it out of defeatism or brainwashing.
The dev behind BFME:R managed to get away with it and just destroyed the 2021 MOTY Best Upcoming accolade - one third of the entire MOTY awards. The devs behind Half-Life: Beyond were trying to repeat the same thing, but thankfully that was ultimately prevented thanks to myself and a few others.
All of this has been dissuading me from wanting to mod games anymore. I may as well just stick to game dev as I have been doing for more than a decade now.
