Hiya!
Decided to show you guys some of my past game projects:
Asteroidz: Extended Warp
asteroid style shooter game, with shops, multiple levels, paths, bosses, power ups and lots of blooooom.
Warmachine
top down mech game with lots of customization and guns
Toxic
a virus survival game with no drawn graphics and only shades of green and white.
Darkmoor
first person rpg
That Warmachine game looks like a nice concept, I hope you managed to have it finished.
Darkmoor looks good too, even though it looks a bit Hexen-like. ;)
Thanks for commenting =)
Warmachine was put on ice due to it's rather enormous scale I planned. Might continue it one day.
Darkmoor graphics were partly ripped from Hexen =D Thou Darkmoor was mearly a short test that can I make doom like RPG game.
Well, the scale is good to have, but it will take more time to do. There is always ther isk of exhaustion if you do it all by yourself. But if you are doing it just for fun then it is sometimes a good idea to put things on hold so the ideas can refine.
Yeah, I noticed the Hexen weapon and a couple of sprites. Doomlike RPG? Sounds like a great concept. I remember one game that tried to achieve that from the past, called Amulets and Armour. Sadly it got never finished.
That might jsut be a good idea I might want to try after I get remnants fragments of the past rpg done. a doomlike RPG! More action and faster than normal RPG:s with simplified leveling to make it more for everyone.
Sounds like a good concept, a simple, fast-paced FPS-RPG with simple but customisable leveling system to suit the player game style. Got the theme or setting chosen yet?
I remember a great Shoot'em'up from Amiga called "The Chaos Engine" which was in a steampunk environment. another nice one was Hired Guns, a grid-based RPG shooter.
Chaos Engine was a great game to be played with a friend. Bitmap brothers made other good amiga games too like Speedball, Xenon, Cadaver, Gods and the strategy game Z.
Fantasy setting having a bit of industrialism started by dwarfs and gnomes but not yet steampunk would fit nicely, as it would allow blunderpusses and machine based puzzles. Great idea Soano!
I loved Chaos Engine back then, IT had an amazing soundtrack that I still remember. Xenon 2 MEgablast was a fun shooter as well, Gods was a gorgeous, but difficult game with great music intro. They had a very distinct graphical style which I liked.
Indeed. No point sticking to one genre if you can do a nice "pick and mix" cocktail, as long as it is carefully considered and balanced. :)
