I've been creating games for just the IOS for about 5 years. So far I've really been learning, learning a lot, and failing big time. My games have had very little success, very few downloads, and the everything feels, well, bleak.

About 6 months ago I really messed up my back (major sciatic nerve pinch), and was forced to go on disability. I can't really stand or sit for too long, so I'm restricted to a yoga position called 'childs pose' why vigorously typing. At that time I was miserable. So if I'm going to be in massive amounts of nerve pain, I might as well program more right?

So, I started to really look at what was wrong with my company, my brand, and my games.

I'm still disabled, still can't sit down at all or stand for more than a few minutes, but I'm not in constant pain so that's good (things are improving). But all that is the build up to the good stuff. I have since brought someone into my company to help with branding and marketing, it's a whole new world for me, that which I am woefully underprepared for.

So now I am blogging about it, on indiedb, for the one or two people that stumble apon this random thread.

Where I am at? Well we just released the first game since the major retrofit. Since getting messed up I've written 2 games that are unreleased, finished a todo list for my wife, and made a Kindness Acts app for my mother in-law.
The new game is called Kickoff Rush.

So far, marketing wise, we are appealing to my inner circle on facebook and such. Just a couple hundred downloads. Feels like getting from here (a world of no recognition and few downloads), to competing with the big boys is impossible. But luckily, I don't need to worry about that, all I need to do is make good games.

At least that's what I'm trying to tell myself.
Wish me luck!
