Report RSS The Last 10 Percent...

Posted by on

There's a common saying that goes something along the lines of:

The first 90 percent of the job will take 10 % of your time. The last 10 percent will take 90 % of your time.

It's something that I've experienced working on the old games and it's something I'm running into with Earth Tower Defense. I had expected to be 100 % done with the fucking game two days ago. Wouldn't you know it... I ran into some various strange bugs that needed addressing. Which brings up an entirely different issue of why nobody who tested the game on Flash Game License told me about them...

Overall, however, the bugs have been pretty easy to fix. For example, on one level, I forgot to add tiles to the game. So, it's nice that the work is pretty easy stuff.

The bad thing about fixing these bugs, however, is that I can't work on Platform Explorer. Also, I had wanted to upload a new video for the devlog, but cannot because I would rather finally finish the game and making videos takes too much time.

But, it's nice to be at the very end of a project. It's nice to know that I'm capable of designing and programming a game that people want to play. Hopefully, when I actually get out there and start uploading the game to various portals, it'll be a hit. The game has already gotten a couple thousand plays, so I'm pretty sure that the game isn't HORRIBLE...

If you've got any experience working at the end tail of a game, I'd love to hear about it!
