Report RSS Rapid Game Development For Flash Is Nice

So, I’m about 2 weeks into the next game (oh, it’s going to be a pretty simple platformer). I’ve decided to base a lot of the work that I’m going to be doing from here on out with the mind set that I have 2 months or so to FINISH a game. That doesn’t mean that the game has to be perfect or anything, but I have to find an idea and run with it.

Overall, I like the feeling of knowing that I’ll only have x amount of time to finish a game. I think it helps to clear away a lot of the frivolous stuff that I had previously tried to do when I was designing games in the past. Now, it’s just all business.

Not only that, but I feel less pressure. That’s kind of nice in of itself, this idea of knowing that I can make a mistake and be okay from it.

My biggest complaint is that I wish that I had more of a mindset conducive to making games in a week or something like that. I’m still stuck in the idea of large scale games with tons of content in it. I suppose that isn’t a bad thing, however, since Flash seems to be becoming stronger and stronger as the days pass. I wouldn’t be surprised if, one day, you could pretty much do anything that you wanted to do in Flash.

Overall, I’m quite happy with the Flash platform overall. I’m kind of surprised at how many opportunities there exist to make fun / quick little games. I just with Earth Tower Defense would finally get sponsored so that I can devote my full energy to this next game.
