Report RSS Kickstarter is a Great Idea For Most Indies

This has been around for a while, so if you're not aware of it and you're an independent developer looking for a way to get funds for your project, you should definately check out Kickstarter.

Kickstarter is a way for people to donate money to your products easily and effectively. Before they can donate money, however, you set two things:

- the amount of money you need
- the time frame when you need to get that money
- the prizes you are going to give out for people's donations

Now, the tricky / risky part is that if you aren't able to raise the amount of money you asked for within the time frame, EVERYONE who donated gets ALL of their money back, and you get nothing. Read the actual page for more information!

In any case, it's a great idea as I've seen a couple of people use it effectively (for example, Paul Eres over at Radical Poesis). For those struggling developer's, it can mean the difference between being able to pay a debt and not...

We've thought about it. Obviously, we'd prefer not to and that sales of The Good Apprentice are through the roof. But, that's not something that we can count on.
