Well, maybe that title is a little misleading. I actually like Super Mario Crossover a bit – I had a jolly good time playing what little I did play.
I guess I just think it’s sad that so many people in the industry are so nostalgic about these old franchises. It’s the insane passion that people have for these old time games that will keep video games from ever really progressing as an art form.
It’s popularity also hints at the adoration of 2D OLD SCHOOL gaming, which I’m not really a HUGE fan of. I like my old games as much as the next guy, but this takes it to an extreme level.
Although whenever I see stuff like this, it reminds of how much fun / simple those old games were. While I’m not saying that games should be designed the same way, there is a LOT that can be learned by playing them.
