Hi!
First of all, my english is horrible (I know that).
As you know the Codemasters's EGO engine-based "F1 2010" minimum requirements says "Windows XP SP3". Well, if you are a lover of EGO engine and want to play this game but want to keep your WinXP at SP2, I'll teach you how to "cheat" the installer. The same if you have the "error code 0x800b0109".
First: If you have activated the "Automatic Updates" deactivate them.
Go to the Registry Editor (Start -> Run -> regedit -> Enter) and make a back-up of your registry (File -> Export... -> save it to your desktop or wherever you want).
Now we can start:
- In the Registry Editor: Go to the path "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows".
- Change the "CSDVersion" key from 200 to 300 you may notice it changes from 0x00000200 (512) to 0x00000300 (768).
- Close the Registry Editor.
- Reboot.
- Run the F1 2010 installer & install the game.
If you have the "error code 0x800b0109" problem read this:
Don't install the game from the Launcher, just close the launcher, explore your DVD drive and run the "game.msi" file inside (if you have the MultiLanguage version this will install the game in English only, but after you can change it, I'll show you how) and install the game.
Once the game is installed, if you want the game in another language than English you can modify this in a few steps: (I`ll make an example changing it to Spanish)
- Go to the game folder in X:\Program files\Codemasters\F1 2010.
- Inside the "audio\speech" folder change the "en.nfs" for "sp.nfs" and "sp.nfs" for "en.nfs" (make a back-up first) to change the in-game voices.
- Inside the "language" folder change "language_eng.lng" for "language_spa.lng" and "language_eng.spa" for "language_eng.lng" (make a back-up first) to change the in-game texts.
You can change from English to other 6 languages:
French, German, Italian, Japanese, Polish & Russian
Once the game is installed, and you made all changes you want:
- Enter the Registry Editor.
- Go to the same path as before "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows"
- Change the "CSDVersion" key from 300 to 200 you may notice it changes from 0x00000300 (768) to 0x00000200 (512).
- Close Registry Editor.
- Reboot.
- Now you can re-activate the Automatic Updates. (if you want to)
- If everything is working fine, delete the registry back-up.
Finally: Play the game with your WinXP SP2
I made this on my main PC and worked fine, do it under your own risk.
Enjoy & have fun!
