I am an unapologetic, raving Armored Core fan.

Yeah, the series has a learning curve that rivals Eve Online for its user hostility and the graphics quality and level of performance attainable by one's mech has been complete garbage since Armored Core V, but those aren't the qualities that endear the series to me.

More than any other game I've ever played, Armored Core gives the player a sense of ownership. As fun as rolling around in a cookie cutter tank on a game like Halo or BF4 can be, it could never compare with the thrill of piloting an AC, even against computer opponents. Why? Because that AC is your AC that you designed and you tested day after day until, on one glorious day, you came up with the design that was literally born to compliment your playstyle perfectly. And ever since that day your AC has been nothing short of a mechanized god of war with you at the helm, laying waste to everything that makes the mistake of trying to stop you.

So yeah, Halo can keep it's dinky little tank.

What's the point of this rant? The point is that the more agency game developers give players over tailoring the means to play a game to their personal playstyle, the more they'll come to love that game.

This is the whole principle behind the Homeworld 2 mod I'm trying to make. If I can get some capable help to make it, we might just make waves in the RTS gaming world.
