It 's just stupid for anybody to use a rifle with the obsolete weapon system known as direct impingement. Most countries expect a select few are replacing the shittaculer m16/M4 with better guns such as the HK416, G36, and the Tavor(in fact it's replacing some AK's!). In the good old US of A, the US Socom replacing is replacing the crappy gun with the FN Scar. Most of the better AR guns remove direct impingement like the HK416 remove it all together, thus Heckler and Koch have made a much better rifle. If a bullpup weapon that is smaller, more compact,has better range, and a comparable rate of fire then a direct gas piece of crap then its obvious the old weapon system sucks.
These weapons only exist in mods because gamers don't know any better. I always replace a crappy direct gas rifle with a better one, be it in Counter Strike or mods.The reason I haven't bought Left 4 dead yet is that I don't want to see or use an obsolete gun. The Combine Overwatch in Half Life 2 would never use such a shitty weapon, though it would be funny too see a Combine soldier's rifle jam and be forced to clean it or (even better) use a backup weapon. If your going to use an AR weapon in your mods use the HK416, Rec 7, Bushmaster ACR, Robinson Armament XCR, the Knights Armament PDW, or even the Aramlite AR180B. Honestly any piston driven rifle that isn't a Kalashnikov derivative would be a better choice.
There are probably even more AR variants that remove the obsolete direct gas system that I don't know about. I only know about these guns because I have done the research with Google and wikipedia. So you do not need to be a weapons expert to learn about much better assault rifles.
Also anybody who bashes direct impingement/direct gas weapons will get positive reputations from me.
