Intro
Desura linux client will be realesed I hope soon so I have finally decided to install some linux distro.
At first a wanted to use Gentoo because of its natural customization capabilities, but Gentoo computer has two states - turned off and compiling, so I have decided for Sabayon 7 distro. It is in equilibrium between usability a customizability.

Sabayon versions
Sabayon is in three major version - spinbase, corecdx and main with GUI. My first try was with Sabayon 7 KDE and I decided to throw it away, because it is full of unnecesarry garbage.
Then lightweight spinbase version was candidate, but text installer did not have capability of manual partitioning. It is only function in graphical instalator. And Sabayon manually, no way, I am not going do it Gentoo way.

XServer problem
So I burned CoreCDX image, booted it up, and nothing. Graphical instalator doesn't not work, flux box and safe mod neither. XServer just do not want to start. After running startx command that just prints "fatal server error: no screen found". In this Sabayon build is not proprietary AMD/ATI fglrx driver, it uses opensource radeon resp. radeonhd driver. So in booting parameters just add parameter "xdriver=radeonhd" and boot it. For my Radeon HD6850 it worked (let KMS enabled).

Second Xserver problem - slow keyboard
In framebuffered console keyboard was with radeonhd driver slow. I was unable even to login in that, but in Flux Box it was ok. In /etc/X11/xorg.conf was as driver selected vesa.

Outro
Now I have working Sabayon with FluxBox environment. But it still needs lot of work - resolution, KDE, may be fglrx drivers.

---Edit---

So it is strange it works, because according to [1], driver radeonhd is for GPU r7xx and driver for my Radeon 6850, which is r900 [2], is radeon [3]. May be this why it has that crappy resolution.

--Second edit--
My fault, boot parameter must be "xdriver=radeon", because it seems after installation, properly drivers are missing. Even problem with generic vesa driver and keyboard is now solved.
