I have been thinking lately about the Taiidan fleet's transition to HW2, mostly from a lack of anything else to do. I have some ideas now that I think may work.
-Higariin's "focus" is ion beams, Vaygr's focus is missiles, Taiidan's focus; possibly defence fields?
-First defender has original weapon; however, the second defender has a defence field.
-Defence fields are always on, but are weaker than the Higariin "overcharged" version.
-Defence field generator; possible subsystem?
-Higariin "capture frigate" beams troops, Vaygr's uses pods, Taiidan's; possibly pods like Vaygr?
-Taiidan capital ships including Missile Destroyer; which could use the torpedoes like the torpedo frigate.
* HW2 is not going to give us several types of defence field... ((( Just the one, like the HDFF has. That's why the role of TDFF & TDF was renovated (in my concept).
* Taiidans focus on everything ) Ions, missiles, plasma, simple guns. Universal Fleet.
* I'd like too see smth more similar to the classic HW "suckin`" )))
* Missile destroyer carries and produces light anti-strikecraft missiles, not quite big torpedoes.
Well... I'll write smth today or tomorrow, I'm quite busy these days.
Maybe an extended time defence field?
I had the idea that since the first game had defence fields as a "unique" unit ability, that it could be carried over to the 2nd game. I agree with the "jack of all trades" idea, but it seems like defence fields should be a big part of the taiidan fleet, and not sucktacular like the current defence frigate. Maybe the have the defence subsystem opposed to cloaking to show this?
I was thinking it could carry the unimproved torpedoes, maybe upgraded to be more effective against strike craft and worse against frigates.
