Well, this is my first blog post.
I guess I'm going to get to my point now.
I'm considering making a custom game engine, specifically use for an upcoming RPG game I'm developing. This engine will be coded in C++ and will work similarly to the Room Editor in Game Maker. After I've done some test runs, I'll release an alpha that will be able to make a simple game. If this does not succeed or go well, then the project will be canceled.
All support is appreciated :)
Hey! Custom engine can be a great idea, but, can take much time :(
Check the Unity or Torque engine :)
Cool things about Unity, you can develop plugins, so, you can expand the engine, you can develop the game with Java or C#, easy to run in a PC or MAC and very easy to port to Android and iPhone :)
Cool things about Torque, you can buy the sourcecode, so can do all kind of update inside the core, you can port to iPhone! (But they are a little out of money :()
Well, Torque is sort of out of my current budget, considering how much I just spent on the holidays. I'm thinking of using Unity for a project I'm about to start work on.
Probably we will use the Unity in the future too... And there a free version to download ;)
I'm doing some tests, this engine is very powerful!!!
Another one is the UDK, you saw something about this one??? :)
