Location: Anywhere - Looking for: Artists

We here at Dark Synergy Studios are seeking a talented 3D Animator to help us bring our game, Wake Up Call, to life and get in on the ground level. Right now, we are entering our pre-alpha stage. I will post a short(ish) description below, but first I want to focus on why you should help us even though we aren't paying yet.
I am going to outline our current production plan for you, so you can see exactly what we are trying to do. First off, I want to mention that right now, we are entirely limited by animations (as in character animations). We have great 3D Artists and Programmers, but we have struggled to find an Animator that can hit deadlines and complete quality work in a timely manner. Right now, we have a player mesh (as well as other characters) but no player animations, and this is beginning to massively hurt productivity. To put it bluntly, we are bottle-necked by our inability to find a good Animator who can give our player (and other enemies) life.
The plan is to complete a pre-alpha demo with our most basic features, and they take that demo to Kickstarter in October or November. We are planning on attempting to raise a number in the range of 20-35k - a reasonable amount, but still enough to hire key members part-time for several months, as well as pay for some other key things. The point of this is to make sure that the core team is consistent, something that will greatly enhance productivity. At the beginning of the campaign, we will also be launching a Steam Greenlight campaign, and the Kickstarter campaign should help to give the Greenlight campaign more votes.
Assuming the KS is successful (and I am also assuming we don't exceed our goal, but if we did, we would have a plan for that too), then we use the money to develop a proper early alpha that is ready to go on Steam Early Access. The release on Steam Early Access will give us additional income with which to continue development through to completion (hopefully sometime in 2014).
That is the plan, anyway, and it isn't happening without an Animator to assist us. I should mention that, should you help us, you will be one of those who gets that part-time job after the KS. All that said, we will be expecting you to contribute a lot of time without being paid, something on the order of 15 hours a week. We need to have someone who is capable of keeping up with our core team, and we are only interested in those that believe in Wake Up Call. If you are interested in this unique opportunity, then read on about Wake Up Call and apply by emailing your protfolio and resume to firstname.lastname@example.org.
What is Wake Up Call?
Wake Up Call is a sci-fi stealth-action shooter with a heavy emphasis on choice-driven gameplay and story in a unique and atmospheric post-apocalyptic world. The game is set in a post-post-apocalypse world, over 150 years after “The Collapse”, in the year 2257 CE. No one knows exactly what happened, beyond that it was a disease of some sort. This disease killed nearly 40% of the world’s population, causing massive destabilization of governments and the ensuing mess of violence and conflict whittled down the world’s population to only 5% of the population before “The Collapse”. 75% of those who weren't killed were mutated and the rest were immune to the bacteria. The mutated people, known as mutations, had suffered partial skin necrosis, loss of hair color, and other small physical changes, but the main mutation was in their mind. Mutations had an increased vulnerability to insanity, paranoia, and extremely short temper. Despite these differences, mutations were still similar enough to humans that they could interbreed and produce offspring of both the human and mutation genome.
Eventually, society grew again in places all over the world as it stabilized and anarchy ceded to order. Flash forward to 2257 CE, in the old capital city of the USA. A powerful and disturbed dictator, Davos Kaledin, has taken control of The Kalders, the only big organized nation-state in the area. Davos has instituted policy to make humans second-class to mutations. The Scarred, a self-proclaimed resistance group, had launched a failed revolution against Davos in 2254, incurring massive losses on both sides. Now, The Scarred lives in the less-traveled areas of the city and in the forests, utilizing guerrilla tactics to try to keep Davos on his toes. Kyle Rogers, an ex-special ops soldier from before The Collapse, has been woken up from cryostasis by a young human woman named Tori. He quickly learns of a massive underground Cryostation which holds thousands of humans from before “The Collapse” in cryostasis, and he has to power up a series of four relays before opening the station himself.
But, it won’t be long before Kyle realizes there is more to this world than his mission and that the secrets of this world are more dangerous than the bacteria that caused “The Collapse” in the first place. Wake Up Call will focus on bringing the world to life, portraying strong characters in a realistic post-apocalyptic scenario, and teleporting the player into the shoes of Kyle Rogers. Wake Up Call aims to set a new mark in indie game development, utilizing the power of the Unreal Development Kit to bring amazing art, wonderful storytelling, and immersive gameplay all into one epic adventure that any and all sci-fi fans will just need to have.
