I love the GPU switching technology in current notebooks... how about adepting that principle to games as well? Imagine that if you want to play Crysis 2 on your Netbook/PSP/Toaster the game switches from Cry Engine 3 to Quake?

Ok now seriously (well sort of)...

The Crisys 2 Scalability Patch project aims to create a Quake based parody of Crysis 2 that should run on the worst PCs ever while trying to answer the age-old question how much games really depend on graphics and how much on gameplay - and whether you can achieve the same gameplay of todays game with more "classical" engines.

Some important design ideas are described in following ingame video: Youtube.com

The goal would be a 20-60min (?) singleplayer campaign ridiculing Crysis/Crysis 2 (Duty Calls: The Calm before the Storm anyone?) and maybe some multiplayer support.

Due to licensing reasons, and for the aesthetics, it would be nice to have some original graphics that orient themselves at the style of Crysis/Crysis 2 - therefore I'd be happy if any Level Designers, Modelers or Texture/HUD artists would be willing to join. I didn't create a ModDB/IndieDB profile yet since it's a little too early. So far work will be coordinated over eMail and the inside3d forums: Forums.inside3d.com

If the thing gets good we'll eventually release it on Desura, ports to PSP (and toasters that support the Quake engine) are also an option.
