Biz Dev job

If you haven't heard, the team behind ModDB, IndieDB and soon Desura are looking for a biz dev expert to join our growing web company. Your job will be primarily to manage our upcoming digital distribution platform, Desura in a biz dev type role. You will be expected to:

• Negotiate deals with commercial, indie and mod publishers to get their games and content released on the service.
• Manage all publishers on the service ensuring their needs are met and invoices are paid.
• Support to be provided to publishers and customers. Help debug issues and ensure everyone understands how Desura works and how to get the most from the platform.
• Content on the site will be managed by you. This includes everything from helping publishers get their profiles setup properly through to running sales and posting news, newsletters, media etc
• Marketing is essential to maximize the sales and grow the userbase of the service. Being social and helping publishers spread the word will be key to establishing Desura as a leading digital distribution service
• Constant challenges will face you because as a small startup every day is different and we expect you to be versatile and willing to assist with any problem be it technical, legal, financial etc

You must be passionate about games (indies and mods in particular), someone who takes initiative and is highly motivated to work with little direction. You should be knowledgeable in the digital distribution space and have a solid idea of what you think will make the best possible platform for both gamers and the creators of games.

Skills wise, you must be an excellent communicator able to pick up a phone and close deals, as well as in-person, via email, IM or whatever the medium maybe. Articulate knowledge of the English language is imperative as you will be working on everything from powerpoint sales decks through to posting news, PR and updates on Desura. Graphic design and HTML skills are a plus but not essential. You needn't have years of experience, we are a young team and realize that enthusiasm and willingness to learn is a great asset. Existing contacts and relationships with game developers, publishers is a big plus.

You will join our team of 5 and will be working from home until we get an office. As a startup expect an entry-level salary while we work on launching Desura and grow the company. Day to day will be spent signing up new games / mods on the service, helping them setup their profile then posting news, articles and PR announcing their inclusion on Desura. Hours are flexible (i.e. full time preferred) and playing games, having fun and enjoying working is a must!
