3D Character Artists Wanted

We are looking for a PBR character artist for an Unreal Engine 5 project. We’re a startup team looking to finalize the composition of our 3D team, which is lacking 2 dedicated character artists.

You will be working under the supervision of our Lead 3D Artist and our Creative Director. We are welcoming all levels of experience in the field and are more than willing to assist you in progressing your career by reaching your personal- and professional goals and achievements within our Company.

The job is full-time, part-time or odd-hours depending on your availability. The workplace is remote.

Responsibilities:

  • Create realistic hard-surface PBR character assets to represent armors and other worn equipment according to task descriptions and concept art provided to you.

  • Create realistic hard-surface PBR character equipment assets representing weaponry and utilities according to task descriptions and concept art provided to you.

  • Follow artistic and technical guidelines created by the project’s management team.

  • Work closely with the Creative Director, Art Director and/or 3D Team Lead to review and implement changes to your work based on their feedback.

Requirements :

  • Understanding and ability to apply the 3D pipelines used to create optimized, game-ready PBR assets

  • Strong ability in industry software for each of the steps of the pipeline (poly modeling, sculpting, UV unwrapping, material authoring and mesh painting)*

  • Strong ability especially in Substance Designer & Substance Painter

  • B2 equivalent or higher in spoken and written English (no certificate required)

  • Degree in a related 3D field [OR] 2+ years of hobbyist or professional experience as 3D character artist

  • 10 hours a week or more of availability.

*You will not be required to perform the rigging of your meshes.

Nice-to-haves :

  • Experience with Unreal Engine.

  • Understanding of shader theory.

  • Interest and knowledge of medieval European history.

  • Ability to write and/or understand HLSL code.

  • Experience as 2D artist in any field.

  • Experience as tech artist.

  • Experience as an environment artist.
