What makes a good mod?

It could be flawless, with perfect gameplay.

It could completely improve the gameplay.

It could add great new featres to a game.

It could be very unlike anything else ever seen.

It could take an existing IP in a great new direction...

...or it could have a great universe of its own.

It could have a great new story.

It could be highly original in many ways.

It could be a great game in its own right...

...It could even improve apon anything else seen before.

So, what do you think makes a great mod?

If you want to make a great mod, do something the players are waiting for or do something that nobody would have though about. Nothing to add :)

I agree... but a lot of players want to play new things in the same game :)

For me What makes a good mod is pretty much the same as what makes a good game for me. I like a good solid story with decent enough gameplay. Though I would add that a mod that is simply fun to play, or adds something specifically new to a game can also make the mod great.
