Jedi Master Dravious Vertis reporting... Personal Log -

War. It is something our galaxy has known for a very long time, and it has brought much pain upon a great many people. It's amazing we have survived this long, however In the long run, we have come far from where we once were, and still other things haven't changed a bit. Today's battle is like none we have faced before, in my weeks spent researching, I can say reassuringly that the galaxy has never faced a threat like this before. Even compared to the horrors of the Great Galactic Wars, New Sith Wars, the Death Stars, the first and Second Clone Wars, and even the Yuuzhan Vong invasion, I fear we face something far more dangerous now. I have strange premonitions of a silent crippling death to everything we see, it's such a strange vision, a whisper but yet a supernova. As a last resort I have turned to sources of study to better my understand of the force and this galaxy's history, for I fear it may be all that will save us now. The machines of darkness that are at work this day, are not natural, its very nature infects and sickness the force itself, in turn weakening us all. I fear that a darkness is coming, but not one of an invasion, or even a death. No matter how much I meditate on these premonitions, I find no resolve, no structure. All that I know, all that we know, is that we are running out of time, this sickness in the force grows stronger, and events unfolding around the galaxy are creating devastating shock waves in the force. If we do not uncover what is happening quickly, I am afraid that this could be it, the end of the force...

In order to uncover this threat, our only option left is to gaze into the past, and analyze where things started to happen that would shape the galaxy we have today, where things started to go wrong? Perhaps there are clues that can be uncovered as to the nature of this threat, or perhaps how to defeat it! Our story takes us to the year 140 ABY, much was changing in this turbulent time, an old legacy was dying, and a new galaxy was struggling to be restored...

Overview -

  • 1. The Third Galactic Civil War lasted from 138 to 146 ABY.
  • 2. Major opening combatants -

Ron Fel's Empire in ExileDarth Nihl's RemnantGalactic Alliance Jedi RemnantClosing combatants -Sith Covenant Galactic Federation & Jedi Order
3. Outcome - Galactic Federation / New Jedi Order Victory. Defeat or collapse of the "Galactic Empire" in all of its forms. Many worlds in "Imperial" territory were greatly damaged, and the populace no longer wished to live under the old Imperial banner. Empire in Exile reformed into the 5 Sector's Confederation, Imperial Knights dissolved. Galactic Federation transforms from an alliance to a governing body constituted from the former factions of the Galactic Alliance, the former territories of the Empire in Exile, and an ever expanding list of smaller factions and systems. The Galactic Federation is the ruling body of the galaxy for the following 96 years. The Imperial Knights re-join the Jedi Order with the help of Cade Skywalker, and the Jedi Order is reformed. Death of Cade Skywalker, death of Darth Nihl. Defeat of the Sith Covenant [another reconstituted form the galactic empire].

4. Persons of note -

Cade Skywalker : [WARNING: DATA FILE INCOMPLETE] Jedi Knight and founder of the New Jedi Order. Lead critical campaigns against the Empire and Sith forces. Slayer of Darth Krayt, and "Purger of the Sith", also credited with beginning first "With Purge" [ Title of Sith Purge is found to be more of a play on words/events to coincide with repeated "Jedi Purges" through galactic history] and was seen as a major figure head by leadership the New Galactic Alliance and Jedi Remnant/Order in both the Second Imperial Civil War, and Third Galactic Civil War. During the war he lead both Jedi and Imperial Knights into action, and was heavily involved in several campaigns. Cade Skywalker killed more sith by his blade than any other Jedi during the war. Unfortunately Cade Skywalker was killed by a stray blaster bolt just one day before the "Charge of Cuddmen's Line" [and the end of the war]. [NOTE: The final hours of Cade Skywalker's life are not very well documented and also have conflicting reports as to his whereabouts before and actual cause of death. Official autopsies reveal a stray blaster bolt to the center chest fired from an E-11H model Imperial blaster carbine, that somehow managed to penetrate through an area of strangely defective body armor. Unofficial reports of his location during the battle vary, as well as the cause of his death with several "first hand witness" exclaiming different explanations on the matter. With such wide spread belief otherwise, this matter is still under investigation by Jedi and galactic historians to this day].

Darth Nihl : [WARNING: DATA FILE INCOMPLETE] What little remaining we know of Darth Nihl is based of his actions in the Second Imperial Civil War. He was an assassin and later a right hand man of Darth Krayt. Upon Darth Krayt's second and final death, with all other contenders dead or imprisoned, Darth Nihl took over the remains of the Order of the One Sith (formally headed by Darth Krayt and a sub entity of the former New Galactic Empire]. Upon taking control of the new order, he renamed it the Sith Covenant, and began preparations for a shadow war, a style of warfare not used by the Sith since Dark Wars [3,951 BBY]. He was leader of Sith Operations until his death in 146 BBY, and end of the Sith Purge [and Third Galactic Civil War] Darth Nihl was killed 3 galactic standard days before the end of the war on the Capital world of Coruscant during a last ditch desperate mission to kill Councilman Stazi. Marasiah Fel : Daughter of the late Emperor Ron Fel, and heir to the Imperial Throne , also an Imperial Knight, Marasiah Fel inherited an Empire in decay during the final days of the Second Imperial Civil War. She was Empress of the Empire in Exile in 138 ABY, and later Empress of the Reformed Galactic Empire [created later in 138 ABY] until its dissolution at the end of the Third Galactic Civil War in 146 ABY. During the war, she was a critical ally of the Jedi Order and the Galactic Alliance, and leader of the Imperial 3rd of the Galactic Federation. After the collapse of the Reformed Galactic Empire, and the dissolution of the Imperial Knights, Marasiah Fel went on to become a Jedi Master in the Jedi Order. She received much criticism for her close ties to the Jedi and the Galactic Alliance [specifically Cade Skywalker] during her brief but turbulent rule as Empress. During the last two years of the war, she became increasingly less important and powerful on the galactic stage as her power bases crumbled under strain and casualty from the war. In the final days of the war, she was temporarily crippled by a devastating Sith assassination attempt.

Jedi Master K'Kruhk : [WARNING: DATA ERASED] - A Jedi master who was rumored to be over 200 years old, and served in the first clone wars [22-19 BBY]. After surviving the 2nd Jedi Purge, he went into hiding. He did so again after the 3rd Jedi Purge in 130 ABY, and was a critical member of the Secret Jedi Council. He was instrumental in the reconstruction of the Jedi Order and the preservation of its teachings. He fought in several major battles during both the Second Imperial Civil War and the Third Galactic Civil War. His whereabouts after the war have been a long source of historical debate and [DATA ERASED]

Darth Carnious : This dark lord became the face of the Sith Covenant during the war, while its leader Darth Nihl remained in the shadows, Darth Carnious was often on the front lines. His mark on history did not begin until the final years of the war, when more conventional conflicts and operations were being conducted around the galaxy. He was well known for his brutality on the field of battle, and would come to earn the title: the Lord of Slaughter [this title was invented after the massacre on Breliz III, where he gassed nearly 500,000 million in the underground cities on the planet]. Many war historians can trace the battle tactics of Darth Carnious back to Darth Malak during the Jedi Civil War [3959-3956 BBY]. Born in 114 ABY, his race is unknown, Darth Carnious stood an impressive 7 ft tall, and served in both Imperial Civil Wars, and would later die in the final battle of the war in 146 ABY during a fighter bombardment of his base. Technically for 3 days, after the death of Darth Nihl , Darth Carnious would be the last official Dark Lord of the Sith for over a century.

Admiral Gar Stazi : During both Imperial Civil Wars, and the crisis in between, this brilliant male Dorus Admiral would change the course of galactic history. The leader of both the New Republic Navy before the war, and the leader of the Galactic Alliance during both wars, he would become a well renowned war hero for the side of the good and free. With the creation of the Galactic Federation in 138 ABY, Admiral Stasi would be elevated to a more political position. During the Third Galactic Civil War, he would serve as Councilman of the Galactic Alliance in the new Federation Government. In the last few days of the war, Sith Lord Darth Nihl infiltrated the Galactic Alliance capital of Coruscant. A pitched battle ensued as he attempted to kill Stazi, who would be fatally wounded in the attack but was able to survive on life support for several more months. His loss would be felt throw out the Galactic Alliance, and Empire in Exile alike, and nearly a century later, the new capitol building for the Restored Republic would be named after Admiral Gar Stazi, and would be built over the site of his attempted assassination. Jedi Master Gethonz Vertis : A legendary Jedi Knight, Gethonz Vertis would be hailed a hero by the end of the war, and would be awarded numerous medals and commendations for his actions. Single handedly, he held off an entire battalion of advancing enemy troops on the moon of Kuryg in 145 ABY, and later would save the life of Empress Fel, and successfully intercepted the Sith assassination attempt. Gethonz had an unquestionable mastery of the force, and would be hailed as one of the most powerful Jedi of his time. He was a human male, born in 122 ABY [ there are no longer any records of his place of birth or information on his parents ] and actually was not a member of the Jedi Order during the 3rd Jedi Purge, and he later stumbled upon the Secret Jedi Council after a tragic accident while on a routine supply run in the outer rim. The only survivor on the crash, he was found to be strong in the force, and was soon after accepted into the order. This would come to be a very controversial decision in the Jedi Council because his future was so clouded, and yet he was so strong in the force. He had two children, and lived to the age of 78. Both of his children joined the order, and the Vertis family name would become synonymous with the Jedi Order and great force sensitivity. However the true story and legacy of this family name would come nearly 150 years after the war had ended.

Moff Graffida Cuddmen : This man would go down in military history as "The Last Moff" and many post-Imperial era textbooks would dub him "The Empires Last Man" and would be somewhat of a legend in his own right. Despite fighting for the Sith, he was a an upstanding officer and a respectable leader. His claim to fame is during the final hours of the last day of the Third Galactic Civil War, during the famous "Charge of Cuddmen's Line" which would be the end of any remnants of the Empire created by Emperor Palpatine nearly 160 years previous. Before the war, he served first in the New Galactic Empire's Navy before Darth Krayt's take over. Not after too long, he would defect to Ron Fel's Empire in Exile shortly before the start of the Second Imperial Civil War, but this time he had reached the rank of General [ He disagreed with the mentality of the sith, and prefered to fight an honorable war, however he refused to go to the Galactic Alliance because they killed his son and his heart was set on restoring the Empire to its former glory. In other words, his love of "the empire'" and its culture/way of life came above the sense of right or wrong in the religious sense, as it did for many "Imperials" of the time. ] Cuddmen would be instrumental in many campaigns throughout both the Second Imperial Civil War and Third Galactic Civil War [on both the side of the Galactic Federation and Sith Covenant] The exact causes for Cuddmen's second defection to the Sith Covenant in 144 ABY remain unclear[ many point to his growing frustration with the collapsing Reformed Galactic Empire, and conflicts with its leadership], however despite this, he upheld his own style of command in wake of Sith brutality and aggression. However Cuddmen's true claim to fame came in the final hours of his life on the planet Brigarien, during the final battle of the war. This battle would be retold in countless stories and holo films for years to come, and its conclusion is marked as ushering in a new age for the galaxy. Being the only field officer left in his unit [and the Empire], Field Marshal Cuddmen assumed the rank of Moff, and command over the remaining Imperial troops in his division, the historically famed 501st Stormtrooper Corps. Unbeknownst to him and his men, they were the last remaining unit functioning on the planet, and the last remaining active unit of any who would claim to be of the Reformed Galactic Empire or some branch or descendant of the original Galactic Empire. On the morning of the final battle, and for the first time in that we have records of, Cuddmen ordered his units to fix bayonets and charge the enemy line. Its unknown what his total unit count was, but it was estimated to be no more then 200 and no less than 100. Cuddmen himself charged into battle with his men, also marking the first time an Imperial Moff has ever led his troops from the front, brandishing an old Imperial flag from the original Galactic Empire in hand. The Empire would go out with a glorious and honorable bang, Cuddmen would have had it no other way, and was a credit to military officers everywhere throughout the existence of the Galactic Empire and on every faction of the war. His loss would be mourned by both his allies and his adversaries, several monuments would later be erected in his honor on both former Imperial worlds and former Galactic Alliance worlds alike..
