So you may be curious as to what this article is doing on non-related mod pages. You might be reading this from the page of one of the modules I have just cancelled or you might simply be viewing this from the Celeritas Eos page. I'm just going to keep things short and sweet.

The Journey is cancelled. Some of you probably haven't even heard of this series but it was a short series I started years ago (I believe you can find the series on some sites like NWN vault where other people uploaded them to, however these are the early beta stages and as such I wouldn't recommend them as they are rather dull to play). So for those unacquainted with the series here's what they were:

  • The Saga: The story of a man named Uriel who becomes the messiah. His story is told throughout the centuries. Also featured were the stories of other individuals from different time-frames who had become immortal. They would eventually encounter Uriel. Unfinished.
  • Victory in War: Spin-off open world sandbox module which was finished.

Victory in War was supposed to release this week but I have since cancelled it. The only elements that were done well was the world exploration and design. There wasn't many dialogue options and quests were almost non-existent. The main features that really made the module were the main story, the vampire system and the open-world. The two later features made their way into Celeritas Eos. The decision to scrap this module rests mostly on that fact. While I'm sad to see the 24/7 NPC working schedule system go it didn't warrant a release for Kingdoms. The main story-line and world of Kingdoms at War will now be imported into Celeritas Eos - Equilibrium of the Night adding yet more hours of gameplay to the already existing vast content.

With The Saga you can see some of the influence on Celeritas Eos. Celeritas Eos is a story that plays out across the centuries through the eyes of different protagonists. While the system may be different (no immortals for example) the foundation is the same. However I couldn't just get rid of my vision of Uriel. Uriel was an ordinary man who had become the messiah unwillingly. The conclusion to his tale was meant to allow the player three paths:

  • Acceptance > Accession > Defeat all Evil (Messiah Path)
  • Unacceptable > Uncertainty > Aimless Wandering > Fight demons and angels > Neutral conclusion (Player forged path)
  • Rebellion > Fight angels > Confrontation with God ("Fallen angel" path)

His story and his character (at least my vision) was epic and I can't simply erase it. It's for this reason that the sequel to Equilibrium of the Night will feature a pre-defined character which will be inspired by Uriel. However the player is also free to play the sequel to EoTN as their own custom character but they will come from a similar background to Uriel. The Saga is dead but the legend lives on.

So what does this all mean? Equilibrium of the Night is *back* in development *again* but future entries in Celeritas Eos will release earlier because now I have no other modules to finish and can dedicate more time to future entries.

As for Crowley's Magnificent Adventure (another module which was the inspiration behind Celeritas Eos) that is on-hold. It's no longer in my development schedule (and hasn't been for months) and is being developed by another team member.


Development would be quicker on these modules if I had more experienced toolset users. So far we are a team of five. Three of us (me included) are working on our own projects right now (CMA was the main project which is simply being given the final touches). ShenraiIarnehs currently is only writing some scenarios, romances and characters for Celeritas Eos and Framinguru is more of "guest member" having his own developer group and separate module to work on while occasionally developing levels and quests for us.

So we're always open to welcoming more members. Celeritas Eos realistically only has me and Shen doing the developing really right now. I had not considered the scope of EoTN either. My madness drives ever onward me to create bigger and better (for better or worst) for what was originally meant to be a small module lasting four hours. So future entries will have to match up to EoTN not just in content but in features too. So yea this is a recruitment.

  • Quest designer.
  • Main developer (levels, characters and general content).
  • Story writer (main story writer next to me).
  • Scripter.

These are the type of people we need. So get off your asses! Lord Ivar of Epsilon wants you! Decline and he'll send Dr. Saul to administer some bad medicine to you and you don't want to mess with Dr. Saul when he's ticked off.

Other information:

  • There will be pre-defined characters now for every main entry after EoTN. However you'll be free to play as custom characters which will be recognized. However second names will still be set.
  • There may be spin-off modules including one where you play as Lucia again. This is all depending on the success of EoTN of course.
  • Guns (as useable weapons) may make their way into the series after-all.
  • Future entries will be much more darker than EoTN.

I didn't completely understand the implications of everything you said, mostly because I know nothing about the other modules you mentioned, but frankly, I took this as a big negative. If EotN was a complete module in its own right already I don't see how ripping content from some other module will enhance it. All it does is give the module MOAR content, and that isn't always necessary or indeed a good thing.

I certainly understand not wanting to scrap what you have already done and I think it'd be cool to incorporate it in the later entries of this series, but this first module, which as I understand was NOT designed with this content in mind, and was nearing completion... just not sure it is the best "home" for this content.

Forgive me if my ignorance of the stories and modules involved, as well as module development, has led to me saying something irreparably stupid. Since my post was mostly negative, I would like to say that I appreciate the frank update, and I compliment your hard word on all your modules. :)

Any update on the progress? Has your writer finished up on the characters (I guess writing romances but I could be mistaken ;) ).

If you're still looking for team members, I could offer some help. I may not be a script wizard like some of these other guys, but I have some good experience scripting for Neverwinter Nights, even more with quest designs, dialogue and story writing.

At this moment it's hard to say. I guess waiting and encouraging the author(s) is the least we can do. The best would be to offer some help like JM_Scion did. From my understanding RadiantLoneWolf wants to make a mod that is complete at release which obviously takes a lot of time to get all the finishing touches.

Personally I'm against such approach because I think it's better to release a 'preview' version and wait for comments from users which might be insightful and helpful to make the final version of the mod better than firstly anticipated. On the other hand - if someone wants to release a 'perfect' mod from the get go - he will be polishing it for a long time.
