First, what is is a Grand Campaign? The Grand Campaigns are series of challenges based around events from the Lord of the Rings. Each campaign is split up into multiple challenges which (loosely) retell the happenings of the central event. These challenges will hopefully force you to play creatively in order to respect the restrictions that come with each. There are no complicated rules, all you have to do is make sure you respect the restrictions listed in each challenge. These will often vary from restricting the player to certain factions, certain units or limit what spellbook powers you can use. You are not obliged to complete all the missions or play them in any specific order, they are simply provided that way for your convenience. Grand Campaigns are initially hosted on the unofficial Edain Discord server but I'll also be slowly releasing them onto here for a wider audience. On the discord server, there are currently two finished campaigns and a third one currently being released.

The Defense of Gondor

This Grand Campaign contains five missions centred around the multiple battles that were fought in Gondor during the War of the Ring when they were assaulted by Sauron.

Mission 1: Siege of Osgiliath

The River Anduin has very few crossings. The ancient city of Osgiliath is one of these crossings and so is of vital importance to the forces of Gondor. It is here that their primary defence against the forces of Mordor will be kept.

Goal: Achieve victory while following the restrictions

Restrictions

• Player Faction: Gondor
• Enemy Faction(s): Mordor (Hard or Brutal)
• Map: Osgiliath (Gondor Top Left, Mordor Bottom Right)
• Gamemode: Skirmish
• Ring Hero: Disabled
• Create a Hero: Disabled
• Starting Resources: 1k

Build Restrictions: Gondor can only recruit basic Gondorian troops (Soldiers, Archers, Pikemen and Knights) and Ithilien Rangers. Can only recruit Boromir and Faramir. Can’t use Army of the Dead, Rohan Answers or The Grey Company. Cannot build Border Stronghold

Mission 2: Attack on the Fiefdoms

As Sauron assaults Minas Tirith from the east, he sends another army from the south. This force has the purpose of drawing away strength from the capital. After looking into the Palantir of Orthanc, Aragorn son of Arathorn brought the Grey Company south through the mountains to assist the men of the fiefdoms in their battles.

Goal: Achieve victory while following the restrictions

• Map: Pelargir (Gondor Bottom Left, Mordor Top Right
• Gamemode: Conquest
• Ring Hero: Disabled
• Create a Hero: Disabled
• Starting Resources: 1k

Build Restrictions: The player can only recruit fiefdoms and Dol Amroth units with Aragorn and Imrahil.
Can’t use Rohan Answers.

Mission 3: Siege of Minas Tirith

With his armies across the Anduin, Sauron was able to launch his invasion of Minas Tirith. It was here that the greatest battle of the Third Age would take place.

Goal: Reach 3500/4500 points

• Gamemode: Skirmish
• Ring Hero: Disabled
• Create a Hero: Disabled
• Starting Resources: 4k

Build Restrictions: Heroes: Only Gandalf, Pippin, Imrahil, Beregond, Denethor. Units: Cannot recruit Fiefdom troops, cannot recruit Ithilien Rangers

Mission 4: Rohan Rides

With the coming dawn, the Rohirrim came down from the north to save the White City. Now the battle is in the fields as the armies of Mordor clash with the Horsemen of the North.

Goal: Achieve victory while following the restrictions

• Player Faction: Rohan
• Enemy Faction(s): Mordor (Hard or Brutal)
• Map: Anorien
• Gamemode: Skirmish
• Ring Hero: Disabled
• Create a Hero: Disabled
• Starting Resources: 1k

Build Restrictions: Rohan can only build cavalry units. Can use all heroes except Hama and Theodred. Can’t use Last March of the Ents or Alliance Between Elves And Men.

Mission 5: Battle of the Black Gate

The Ringbearer is approaching Mount Doom. The forces of good must keep Sauron’s eye on them at all costs if Frodo is to have any chance of success. To do this, they march on the Black Gate, challenging the Dark Lord in his own realm.

Goal: Achieve victory while following the restrictions

Restrictions

• Player Faction: Gondor or Rohan (Bottom Left or Bottom Right)
• Allied Faction: Rohan or Gondor (Bottom Right or Bottom Left) (If you pick Rohan then Gondor is your ally if you pick Gondor then Rohan is your ally.
• Handicap: Player -25%, Ally AI: -25%, Enemy AI: 0%
• Enemy Faction(s): Mordor (Brutal) (Top right)
• Map: Black Gate
• Gamemode: Skirmish
• Ring Hero: Disabled
• Create a Hero: Disabled
• Starting Resources: 1k

Build Restrictions: Can use all units. If playing Gondor, can only use Aragorn, Gandalf, Pippin, Beregond and Imrahil. If playing Rohan, can only use Eomer, Merry and the captains.
