Over on the PlayStation Blog, Sony has revealed a new PlayStation VR title that will be arriving in time for the headset’s launch: Super Stardust Ultra VR. The game is a port of Super Stardust Ultra for the PS4, which itself is an enhanced port of Super Stardust HD for the PlayStation 3.
Being made for VR, though, means that this version of Super Stardust Ultra is played from a first-person perspective – something entirely new for the series. You’ll still be blasting increasingly tough waves of enemies with your ship’s lasers, plasma cannons, missiles, and more – but from this new perspective, you simply look at where you want to shoot before firing with the DualShock 4 pad.
This first-person perspective is limited to the new VR-only mode, called Invasion. But you can still play the traditional Super Stardust Ultra modes while using the PlayStation VR as well.
Super Stardust Ultra VR is available for pre-order on the PlayStation Store for AU$24.95. However, if you already own Super Stardust Ultra, you can purchase a cheaper upgrade to the VR version. Either way, the game will be available with the PlayStation VR launch on October 13.
