Docking
The docking system in StarMade has been completely rewritten to be a new and interesting element in the game. There were lots of bugs in the system before, and it was barely usable.
Now it's possible to dock to any structure with a docking module on it. Also, finally un-docking is now possible for both the ship that is docked, as well as the docking station. This brings players a new and fun gameplay aspect: Dock explosives on your ship as mines and release them in enemy territory. I finally also added a nice looking texture for the docking beam.
Repair Beam
Since there already is plenty of modules in the game for destruction, I figured that it would be the time to bring something healing into the arsenal. The repair beam handles like any other weapon in the game, with the difference that it replenishes hit points of blocks. The more repair modules are grouped together, the faster the beam will fill up the block hit points. Textures and icons for that module are already included in this update.
As a side note, all beams now have different colors to distinguish them from the outside.
Other notable changes and Bugfixes
- Upped hit points and amour of Hull and Ship Core
- star-made.org login did not function due to missing libraries
- server will now reset the database when a round ends
More to come
I have plans for some new beams and weapons. Most of them will have unique effects like power-draining or slow-down (snare). I will also add a new type of weapon that does area effects, which you can activate in the middle of enemy fighters. Space Stations are still in development and will probably come within the next week.
