As the first alpha release of sky soldiers to the public is only 2 months away, it seems appropriate to give you guys a little update on what to expect. Here's a list of features that will be included in the first release in February!

5 Weapons:

  • Katana
  • Shotgun
  • SMG
  • FlameThrower
  • Grenade Launcher

Both teams can chose between 5 different weapons. Each weapon has its pros and cons: The grenade launcher does a lot of damage, but because of its weight, slows you down. The flamethrower on the other hand is very lightweight and makes your enemies feel all warm inside, but it uses the same fuel reservoir as your jetpack.

2 Unique game-modes:

Fuel frenzy

The fuel frenzy game mode is designed to be played by 2 small teams (3-6 players per team). The airships from both teams are located at the same altitude and a small distance apart. At certain time intervals a supply plane flies in between the 2 airships and airdrops different kinds of pick-ups. Once dropped these pick-ups deploy a parachute and fall slowly to the earth.

Along with the regular assortment of pick-ups (ex. Jetpack fuel, Ammo, Health) the supply plane also drops a limited amount of special fuel pick-ups. These fuel pick-ups are different from the ones used for refueling the jetpacks. They are larger and are used to resupply the airships fuel tanks. The amount of these pick-ups dropped on each supply sortie is the same as the amount of players in the smallest team. So if the Japanese team has 3 players, and the US team 4 players, then 3 pick-ups will be dropped. The supply plane will do another supply sortie once all the pick-ups are delivered to the airships or if they've descended out of reach from both teams.

Each team has to try to collect as many of the special fuel pick-ups as possible and bring them back to their teams airship. Each airship will have a designated spot where these fuel tanks need to be delivered. Once a player picks up a fuel tank, he will fly a lot slower due to the extra weight. A glow around the player indicates that he is in possession of one of the fuel tanks. If a player is killed while carrying a fuel tank, he will drop the fuel tank, and it will deploy another parachute, so other players can pick it up again. The first team to reach the predetermined amount of collected pick-ups wins.

Take over

More info on the take over Game mode soon! There will be at least one map per game mode in the first release.

Dynamic Weather system:

During the game the weather will change dynamically, making each match a unique experience. Players can fly below or through the clouds to hide their movement from enemies.

Controllable Turrets:

Airships from both sides will be equipped with turrets that can be controlled by players.
