Post news Report RSS Update #1 - What we plan on

A quick update on what we plan on bring project 'unknown' to.

Posted by on

So, we felt we needed to post a news update letting you guys (and girls) know what’s happening to project 'unknown' and where we are taking it.

  • Better world generation - This includes things like NPC towns, a border to show where the offset is etc.
  • NPC’s - This is a build on for towns mainly, but other than that there will be quest NPC’s which can give you specific quests based on your level, skills etc.
  • Quests - They wont be your generic “talk to x NPC” or “slay x amount of y” The quests will have story to them. Not only that, some will be skill-restricted, I.E “Craft x amount of y” or chain quests, which have stories attached to them.
  • Set world sizes - At the moment, our worlds are set to 100x100. Boring, right? We ran some tests, and we’re hoping to get world sizes of 10000x10000 into the game, or you could set a custom world size (no bigger than 10000x10000, we can’t risk crashes here!) and play from there.
  • Stats - It’s in the code, however it’s very inefficient and doesn’t yet work. We’re looking into much more efficient ways to give us stats and levels.
  • Layers - So you can explore layers which may have fall traps, water, ores and treasure!
  • Lighting system - At the moment, the place is dull with some sort of fullbright effect. If we could set the brightness down so you can only see a set amount of tiles before blacking out, we will do that. (otherwise we’ll cheat and lower the resolution, nah kidding.)
  • Change resolution - At the moment, we have it fixed at 1024x768, which isn’t all too pleasant. We’re looking to make our GUI engine more capable of text boxes to set your resolution (or drag the screen, we’re cool with either)
  • Enhanced GUI engine - At the moment, we have forms with titles and buttons. We’re planning on things like slider bars, text boxes and much more.

However, we're still accepting suggestions at our forums!

Thanks for reading this - Hope you enjoy the download which has been provided (It’s the latest download) and please report bugs to us!

Head Developer
