The game takes place in the medium-near future (~2100 A'D') in a realistic sience fiction environment' The government is conducting experiments with remote-controled robots as a replacement to human infantry' In order to test the viability of various prototypes and in order to recruit talented pilots, a series of tournaments is held in which teams of pilots battle it out in simulated environments' So much for the basic theme' More importantly Open-Fire is an Open Source project built on top of the Open Source Quake 3 engine' Our goal is to mix a realistic sience fiction environment and movement with fast-paced and action-packed gameplay' We will start as a mod for Quake 3, aiming for a stand-alone release once it becomes feasable' You can find up-to-date thoughts and concepts on our message board and Wiki' Although we are using Quake 3, we are planning to increase the detail level as much as possible' The game should look attractive but also run smoothly for as many people as possible'...
