You can play GTA2:XF as a multiplayer or Single Bot-match game. In multiplayer, when setting up a game choose any map which has GTA2XF in front of it (eg. GTAXF - Island Mansion- 3 Player). All other maps are the original GTA2 multiplayer maps. In Single player you can for now, only choose 2 of the original GTA2 maps (Levels 2 & 3) but level 1 has been changed to a botmatch (TekBot Match) game on the map 'Island Mansion'. Choose level 1 in the game menu and then play.

Installation

Installation is easy, just run the gta2xf-beta10.zip file and extract to game directory but leave which is C:\Program Files\GTA2 by default but put it in the directory where you installed the game.

You will also have to deal with Cops and the National Guard, be careful. Police can be turned off in multiplayer matches. Everytime you kill the bot, you get a life added which is displayed next to your score in green. The longer you kill him, the longer the game lasts. The game will end if your lives are 0.

When the game starts I get "Unexpected Frontend Image Size". What is wrong?
GTA2 is fussy about the filesize of the frontend images, for some reason or other the image is too small or too large. Reinstall the pack and do not edit the images in any graphical program or they will not work.
The game suffers from lag, even on a LAN. What is the problem?
GTA2 has poor netcode but also suffers slowdown when other programs are open at the same time. Close all other programs down which are in the background and try again. An upcoming map called Roof Wars should be less laggy, keep a lookout for it. You could also try the latest patch which is downloadable from www.gta2.com but this version of the mod was built on the version which is shipped out with GTA2 so I do not know if it will work but I think it should. Try it out.
I have Windows NT/Windows 2000 and the game won't run.
Get the latest patch off www.GTA2.com and it should fix it. Hopefully the mod will too.
The TekBot is too hard because it warps around, how do I turn it off?
You can't turn the warping feature off to my knowledge. This has been hardcoded into the game and cannot be changed. the bot will warp without notice so you will need to pay more attention in game because the TekBot can appear anytime he wants.
The tank on the 'Island Mansion' map is an unfair advantage for whoever gets it in multiplayer. How do I stop it?
Be the first to get to the island is the answer. If someone beats you, try to drive up next to the tank in a faster car and jump out, then press enter next to the tank, pull out the driver and you are away. This is a favourite feature of mine and is great fun in multiplayer.
How do I get on the Inernal Beta Testing Team?
Usually it is only for people who attend my LAN. If you want to test out an early beta, you must have good knowledge of the game and preferably know how to do scripting or map making. Why is the Bots name TekBot?
Because a person called Teknics helped me make it and was originally his idea so he owns it ;). It will also be included in his mod GTA2: BattleGen. Check it out at Gta.niteshade.net.
