Decades have passed since the war erupted between the United Space Federation and The Alliance of Free Worlds. A bloody conflict that seemed to have reached a stalemate is now about to change, when a thrid faction suddenly appears. Take control of a fleet commander returned from exile, rise through the ranks of the United Space Federation forces and join an epic war across the stars. Start with a small group of frigates, and climb your way to controlling battleships, carriers and planetary bases, in huge space battles and boarding actions. Build space stations and orbital facilities to fortify your position, build your fleet, extract minerals and research upgrades. Execute boarding actions using marine special forces, and bombard your enemies with orbital long range cannons.

Very nice work. Perhaps instead of large, capital-ship artillery batteries firing at the small fighters, why don't you add small flak batteries and small turrets to handle fighters. This way, you can divert attention between capital ships and fighter squadrons and frigates, which most likely would've happened in actual space combat.

Also, are you working on the explosions and debris?

Thanks.
The Cruisers are actually shooting with flak batteries against the fighters, do they look to big , is that the problem ?
The thing is, if the flak is much smaller than this, no shots at all will be viewed from a distance.
Yes, the explosions and debris is a work in progress, we need to slow them down.

Making the flak smaller and faster would absolutely look better, as for the "not being able to be visible" issue, why not make the default zoom in/zoom out position a bit closer to the battlefield. In your video, you are zoomed out a good bit, perhaps making everything a bit smaller or something or just changing your in/out position.

I believe what most people would compare the flak batteries to is AA guns from World War II. Seeing a large shell is a bit odd to some people, while seeing WWII Anti Aircraft guns seems more appropriate.

You may want to look how exploding ships are done in Movies - or how naval ships are taken apart by torpedoes. I'd love to see the ship breaking down and a carcass remaining. Shields break down, hull texture gets replaced by dmaged and ripped version, parts break off gradually and then all the lights flicker and go out... pause then BOOOM. If you want to get fancy, there could be some sort of distinction between overkills and disabling. Overkill= Lots of ships / Few strong ships shooting at the target, the target explodes and scatters completely. Disabling: large chunks of Hull are still intact, just; the ship is disfunct. YEAH I KNOW asking for too much ;D

If I may add my opinion to this, have you taken a look at how Homeworld 2 ships are destroyed? Quite magnificent, if I say so myself. Of course, this game looks to be very fun no matter how you decide to blow up your vessels.

Those fighters are looking pretty neat; good job. One thing that bugged me though was the size of the shield impacts on the capital ships. It seems a bit odd for weapons from a fightercraft to create such a big disruption in the capital ship's shields. I would recommend scaling that effect down to say, a fourth or fifth of its original size.

But, then again, I don't know what kind of armament those fighters have, so it could very well be that the shield impact size is appropriate.

i believe the idea of the shield would be to spread the force of the impact evenly, and perhaps they are using a huge caliber weapon?

The fighters are actually shooting quite a powerfull weapon, but I believe you are right, making the impact on the shield smaller would make it look better :)

Maybe hide the healthbars as a mouse-over and/or button to toggle them for all ships.
