2002 is over, many games sites are throwing out the same old "games of the year feature"... NOT US! Being a mod site that just would not be our style, however seeing as we don't want to miss out on the action, we are doing a MASSIVE feature on the best mods of 2002!
After two months of accepting nonimations, bribes and attempting to ignore the crazy DBZ fans whose vote generally reads "our mod is teh b0mb - 1337 yeah!" we have choosen the best mods across the following categories *drum roll*:
Mod Fanatic, As the end of 2002 rolls ever nearer, many games sites are probably planning their wrapup on the best games of the year. Well been a mod site that just would not be our style but the modDB cannot miss out on the action. Hence we are doing a MASSIVE feature on the best modifications of 2002!

How does this concern you? Well while bribary won't work - if you believe you run, have played or have seen a great modification please nominate it. Pimp your own modification by all means, but please don't just say 'our mod is teh b0mb - 1337 yeah!' because it will be promptly ignored, instead say why you believe your mod should be considered then we shall judge it based on its merits.
The following categories shall all be covered in this feature. Each category shall have a few honourable mentions with one overall winnah! Please specify which category the modification you nominate falls under!
That pretty much covers it! Now start getting those nominations in so we can begin writing up this feature over the next two months, so please visit the special thread and vote!

I think you should add a catagory for the Most Relistic and Original War mod.
there already is best realism, which is most realistic and do you think War mod really deserves its own category!?
war of any era and mods like cs
No need to seperate realistic mods into different sections
Best Realism Mod - Firearms
Best Sci Fi Mod - Science and In
Best Comical Mod - Rocket Crowbar
Best Action Mod - Honey, they're all action.
Most Improved Mods - Firearms ?
Best Mods Overall - TFC
5 Mods You Should Not Leave Home Without - www.Award Overlaps.com The best of each category will make the top 5
Best New Comer For 2002 - TS
maybe a Mega poll for the different sections which ppl can vote for
Well it doesnt give new mods much of a chnace, everyone will be coting for mods that have been around for years because no one expereinces the new ones ..
oh well
Best Realism Mod > Counter - Strike
Best Sci Fi Mod > Natural Selection
Best Comical Mod > HalfQuake Amen
Best Action Mod > The specialist
Most Improved Mods >
Best Mods Overall > Natural Selection
5 Mods You Should Not Leave Home Without
- Counter-Strike
- Natural Selection
- HalfQuake Amen
- Heart of Evil
- PaintBall HL
Best New Comer For 2002 > ? no idea.
what about "best western mod" ?? *g*
or "best western mod for quake3" ;)
Actually, it'll be "Top HL Mods of 2002". We know it's the most modded game, and at least 2000 members of ModDB just came here because of HL... No chance for other engines...
true.
Not true at all. I shall ensure a few mods from other engines get in. We cover all games, and just because one has less followers does not mean its mods are equally less in quality.
That gives me a good idea. How about I code in a poll to every single mods profile. Then registered modDB members (only the registered members) can go around and nominate one of every award to each mod of their chosing.
So take the sample mod, you could login and choose it for the 'best newcomer award' then once you have nominated it is final. Now you have to nominate different mods for different awards? Apart from the fact that people may create bogus modDB profiles how does that sound!?
I think I got that. I reckon something like that should be in every mod's profile anyway, like this:
Nominate:
Mod of the Month - Award A - Award B
It would make it much easier than having to go through your CP to nominate, and then you could add new awards relatively easily.
