The engine used to build this game was a once-off creation, designed explicitly to run this particular title. This is not a _real_ game engine, this is a generic category.
In my opinion, every developer that takes extra time and effort to make a custom engine deserves a tap on the shoulder. And if it works on other platforms like Linux and Mac too, then he deserves some extra cash as well.
