NEW FEATURES
- You can now spawn as the Zerg in custom games.
Simply set your race to Night Elf, and your handicap to 90%.
This will make Zerg units will spawn in place of Night Elf units on any map where standard starting units are created, such as melee maps.
Note that the map's Game Data Set must be set to Melee (Latest Patch). Melee maps should have this on by default.
Note that Computer players will currently not play as Zerg.
- Custom Hotkeys are now supported. See the included SC-CustomKeysSample.txt. Add its contents to your own CustomKeys.txt and then configure the hotkeys to your liking.
- The World Editor now has built-in support for Zerg units, allowing them to be easily added to your own maps. No need to import anything, they just work!
Note that the map's Game Data Set must be set to Melee (Latest Patch) under Scenario -> Map Options.
- Reduced Zerg Campaign map load times.
BUG FIXES
- Fixed Zerg ready acknowledgments not playing the first time for each unit type.
- Fixed Zergling, Hydralisk, Broodling, and Zerg Eggs missing explosion effect when killed by artillery (ex. Mortar Team).
- Fixed Zergling and Hydralisk using less food while burrowed.
- When a unit is ordered to do an Aspect morph, the other units in the group will now gain selection priority.
This should make ordering many aspect morphs at a time less cumbersome.
- Fixed Hydralisks using Lurker Aspect causing selected Mutalisks to morph into Devourers (and vice-versa).
- Fixed multiple Devourers firing at once causing affected units acid spore levels to reset.
- Fixed Broodlings and Defilers being too hard to see in shallow water.
- Fixed error message spam when a Queen chooses to infest an invalid target while the Infest ability is set to autocast.
- Fixed Infested buildings retaining the enemy's handicap life % (ex. Easy Difficulty campaign maps)
- When a unit enters/leaves a Dark Swarm, it will gain/lose protection immediately, instead of after a couple seconds.
- Fixed Dark Swarm not protecting burrowed units.
- Fixed Dark Swarm not protecting units under Thorns Aura.
- Fixed ESC key not cancelling selected Hatchery evolutions / eggs.
- Fixed being able to build structures on shallow water.
- Fixed rally point sound playing on game start.
- Fixed near-empty Gold Mines being created in place of Extractors when they are drained.
- Fixed Nydus Canal being unable to create a new exit if its first attempt was cancelled. Additionally, Nydus Canals will die if their exit it destroyed (not cancelled) while under construction.
- Fixed Creep Tumor model missing.
- Fixed various memory handle leaks.
- Fixed memory leaks when destroying enemy buildings.
ART CHANGES
- Zerg and WC2 Orc units emit a blood splatter when killed.
- Slightly increased the size of Zerglings, Broodlings, Hydralings, and Devouring Ones.
- Spawn Broodling missile changed to match the new one for Queen's Snare.
- Plague now appears properly on structures.
- Zerg structures bleed when damaged.
- Adjusted the Defiler Mound model to better match its appearance in StarCraft.
- Undead structures have their green fire effect back when damaged.
BALANCE CHANGES
General
- Infested heroes lumber cost decreased to 100 from 135.
- Super-versions of zerg units (Hunter Killer, Torrasque, etc.) hit point regeneration increased to 1.00 from 0.62.
- Zerg now have access to a Backpack upgrade from the Evolution Chamber, allowing ground units to carry items. In the Zerg Campaign, this becomes available upon infesting the Night Elves.
Kerrigan
- Queen's Snare has been replaced by Fungal Growth, based on the StarCraft 2 ability.
- Psionic Storm cooldown increased to 6s from 2s.
- Base attack cooldown increased to 1.91 from 1.83.
- Maximum attack damage increased by 6.
- Movement speed increased to 320 from 280.
- Starting agility increased to 22 from 20. Note that this change will not apply to her when she's loaded from an earlier version of the campaign.
Brood Arrow
- Now summons a Mantaling instead of Broodlings/Zerglings. This was so it could be balanced separately from other Broodling abilities.
Hydralisk / Hunter Killer / Hydraling
- Now deals Chaos damage to buildings instead of Siege.
Guardian
- Supply cost increased to 3 from 2.
Devourer
- Corrosive Acid duration reduced to 50 (12.5)s from 300 (75)s.
- Projectile changed to appear closer to StarCraft.
Queen
- Queen's Snare now fires a missile that causes the spell's effect on impact, as in StarCraft.
- Queen's Snare attack speed penalty increased to 33% from 30%.
- Queen's Snare movement speed penalty increased to 50% from 40%.
- Maximum life threshold for Infest Town Hall has been set to 33.33% in standard games. It can be changed in custom maps. In the Zerg Campaign, town halls may still be infested at less than 50% life.
Broodling
- Damage increased to 6 from 4.
- Health decreased to 135 from 150.
Hydraling
- Damage increased to 6 from 5.
- Health decreased to 165 from 180.
- Acquisition range decreased to 600 from 900.
Defiler
- Plague damage to buildings reduced to 18/s from 27/s.
Hatchery
- Will now generate Larvae independently, instead of all at the same time.
Spore Colony
- Projectile speed increased to 1500 from 750.
Sunken Colony
- Now deals Chaos damage to mechanical units. It will still deal Piercing damage to organic units.
Baneling Stampede
- Damage per hit decreased to 70 from 75.
Devouring One
- Damage decreased to 9 from 10.
Yggdrasil
- Tooltip said it provided 30 food, but it actually provided 8. Now it correctly provides 30 food.
- Hit points decreased to 1600 from 4000.
- Armor decreased to 5 from 7.
Hunter Lurker
- Now fires 7 spines, up from 6.
Kukulza
- Hit points decreased to 1080 from 1350.
Guardian Phoenix
- Hit points decreased to 1200 from 1600.
Torrasque
- Hit points decreasd to 2100 from 2400.
- Armor decreased to 7 from 11.
Infested Peasant
- Can now speed-build under-construction Infested buildings.
CHAPTER CHANGES
- Infestations made on one difficulty level will now be available on those below it.
- Volume channels will now be set properly during in-game dialogue.
Chapter 1
- Enemy bases will have slightly more units defending them.
Chapter 2
- Added an extra starting Hydralisk.
- Added an optional quest to better convey the infestation mechanic to the player.
- Removed a Meat Wagon and a Ghoul from the initial Undead base on Hard difficulty.
- Mal'Ganis now starts at level 6 on hard, down from 7.
- Reduced Mal'Ganis experience rate to 50% from 100%.

- Arena
- Replaced the Goblin Merchant with a Marketplace, selling different items.

- The Hatchery will start with its creep fully spread and with 3 larva instead of 1.
- Added an Extractor.
- Drones will begin harvesting automatically.
- Reduced the damage of Trolls to 28-32 from 28-37 and their armor to 0 from 1.
- Warlocks no longer cast Ray of Disruption. They now instead summon Felhounds.
- Various other balance tweaks.
- Updated some WC2 orc buildings and effects to use newer models from LordPerenoldeII's WC2 Remake.
- Raider model changed to one by loktar to more resemble their WC1 appearance.
- Red Orc team color changed to yellow.
- Fixed events from completing the first quest being repeated later in the level.
