Hi all Welcome to Vs-Ancient, a total vanilla rework with a whole new take on the skill system and itemization to truly try and bring out the best of what vanilla could be. Besides your 4 primary stats which are a mix of Strength, Dexterity, Vitality and Energy, there is now 6 more primary stats, however these are only found on gear, almost all gear can come with it.
These 6 primary stats are:
Single Damage Bonus: Increases the effectiveness of skills that are single targert
Area Damage Bonus: Increases the effectiveness of skills that are area targert
Summon Skill Bonus: Increases the effectiveness of summons and summons related skills
Offensive Bonus: Increases the effectiveness of skills considered to be offensive, kinda like Raspi!
Defensive Bonus: Increases the effectiveness of skills considered to be defensive...
Utility Bonus: Increase the effectivenes fo skills considered to be utility based..
There are also some other new bonuses:
Bone Damage %: Increases Necromancer boneskill damage
Shield Damage %: Increases Paladin shield skills damage
Spell Physical damage %: Increases the physical portions of skills damage
Spell damage %: Increases the damage of all elemental spells
Also the more bonus you stack the more you will see the effects, the list is too great to mention here.
General game and character play!
Due to the way the game philosophy is designed, it is not anything like vanilla or not even really like any other game or mod I have ever seen...
So there is the walkthrough..
Each class has 3x Main Specializations
Each Specialization has (1) Single Damage Skill and (1) Area Damage skill, only Summoners do not always have this as they function differently
Each Specialization has (7) skill, the other (5) skills are a mix of Offensive, Defensive and Utility.
Single Damage Skills do more damage than are damage skills in general and also cost alot less mana, buffs and debuffs cost alot of mana.
But just experiment to find a flow..
It is recommended that you first invest all the points you get into 1 specialization, if you try to spread points between multiple specialization it would make you extremely weak..
Gear and stuff...
Currently charms are not yet implemented but as white drops.. Also only Tier 1-3 items are available during phase 1
Higher tier armors have higher movement penalties..
Class charms are not enabled during phase 1
Class rings and amulet can drop with any combination of your class skills
Each class also has additional skills for their chozen specialization which is only available on gear..
During phase 1 you can only find vanilla uniques with adjusted stats and new stats, uniques should really make a difference in play now.
Same for sets and runewords, Runewords however had to have some larger changes to implement new stats etc, but their primary skill and play functionality should be intact as originally intended by blizzard
Also only T1-3 Runes, Ingredients, Metals, Parts etc are available during Phase 1, the main purpose of phase 1 is to test the new skill and stat/itemization to see if everything is working as intended, based on tests so far i can say with 98% certainty that it is all working..
Class specific gear and skill usage based on weapons
So most classes now cannot use all weapons anymore, they could possibly equip them but skills will not work
Each class now has a very specific weapons range
Sorceress Mains: Orbs, 1h Swords, Shield.. Orb is your main dude and now you have 2 new class items, tiara and gloves!
Necromancer Mains: Necro Scythes, Necro Shields, Wands, but specializations like Summons allow for any weapons
Druid Mains: Staves, 1h Weapon Any + Shield, Fury however can use any weapon type... Staves are for druid only now and they have a class body leather armor!
Barbarian Mains: Frost Barbs can only use 1h/2h + shield/2handed maces, Storm Barb can only dual wield, Berserker Barbs can use any combination of weapons, however they do have a new weapon class, Slaughterblade which is a 2handed barb only sword.. they also have belts as class only item now!
Paladin Mains: Holy and Shieder can only use 1h+shield and Zealers can use any combination of weapons, Paladin new class item is a crown..
Assassin Mains: They can only dual wield claws or use claw/Kunaistar+claw shield, Kunaistar and clawshields are new weapon types for assassins only, they also now have boots as class only item!
Amazon Mains: Can either only use Bows, Xbows, 1h javelins+shield and/or 2 handed spears, Amazon new class item is a shield...
It will take some getting use to your class and your weapon and armor types
Shops and misc!
Super healing potions cannot be bought only found!
Currently only vanilla runewords and cube recipes are available, again, the purpose of this phase is a test fo the skills and item stat interactions to make sure it all works right!
But, do check different vendors because different vendors sell different early class only items which will help alot!
Also do not try rush through, it will not work..
Melee vs Range vs Caster
All Melee, ranged and spells attacks now require attack rating...
Spells now also use attack rating, so casters be aware of this, sometimes a little bit of early dex makes a huge difference..
Also read the skills to see what they do etc, things are way different in that sense..
PHASE 1 - Currently the mod is being tailored for Vanilla style modification with a new take on item and skill use with many other small changes that you can only realize and notice once playing, it cannot be explained, it has to be experienced.
Phase 1 only included Tier 1-3 itemization, however the mods overall difficulty is set at a Tier 6 progression, but, Phase 2 is still a long long way away so have fun with what is hopefully one of the most crazy Diablo II vanilla style modification and enrichement of the original content.

Hi all,
I will do a full re-pack with some updates and changes, i will revisit the movement speed a bit and i will reduce the difficulty of mobs by 5-10% across the board.
Since the new of the release of Diablo II resurrected, Diablo II VSA will also be moving to resurrected as mod once the game is released and hopefully this will allow for more customization for the story and bosses etc
