Converts ColorRIX Image Files (*.RIX) to Windows Bitmap Files (*.BMP)
Written for all funs of Fallout 2 - best postnuclear RPG ever made...
WHAT IS IT?

This convertor converts Fallout 2 splash screens (*.rix) to MS Windows bitmap files (*.bmp).
These *.rix located in master.dat, huge Fallout 2 resource file.
You could use some extractors such as F2RE for extracting RIX files from master.dat .
Then you maybe need to convert it to usual *.BMP pictures.
RIX2BMP does that for you.
USAGE

This is command-line utility. You can use it as follows:
rix2bmp.exe infile.rix outfile.bmp [bfactor]
Where:
infile.rix: Your *.RIX that you need to convert
outfile.bmp: Name of generated BMP file
bfactor: Brightness factor. This parameter is not necessary(default=4).
Note that you need type in file extensions also.
Some examples:
rix2bmp.exe splash6.rix mademan.bmp
converts splash6.rix (extracted from master.dat) to mademan.bmp with normal level of brightness.
rix2bmp.exe splash1.rix pleasewait.bmp 2
converts splash1.rix to pleasewait.bmp with reduced level of brightness.

Some words about RIX. This is one of image file formats used by ColorRIX.
ColorRIX is the native bitmap format of the ColorRIX VGA Paint application
for MS-DOS.
The ColorRIX format is documented in the ColorRIX VGA Paint manual
