MetroEX is a complex tool for exploring and extracting game assets from Metro Exodus archives.
New/fixed in v0.3:
1) Fixed models zooming using the mouse wheel on Windows 7/8 (by abramcumner)
2) Added files tree filtering (by slik)
3) Known file types are now displayed with their icons (by Shoker)
4) config.bin can now be opened and you can view / extract files that are located in it (by Shoker)
5) Added info panel for textures and models that shows useful information about the selected file
6) Export the model along with its animations to FBX! *
7) Ability to view animations directly in the tool (please note that this functionality is not fully tested)
* When you export a single model to FBX, the model is always exported with it's animations. With batch extraction you can disable animations export.
Exporting with animations may take some time. I will try to optimize this, but it seems that the issue is in the FBX SDK.
Built-in animation player:
The result of model export opened in 3Ds Max:
Nice. Keep the good work going.
Nice, would you care posting the source to GitHub? Would love to learn how some assets are extracted
Does this only work with .vfx files? I'm looking for specific audio in the Sam's Story DLC and there are vfs files.
I get an unhandled exception error when I try to open anything other than content.vfx. The previous version could open the patch files.
I've found that it really helps stability if your Metro Files are on an SSD
But some models contain all animations for every human npc and yourself, how would I seperate this? Or work with it? Do I just import the fbx and switch between animations? Cus I dont know how to do that.
can this be used to print the models on a 3D printer?
