1.4 added fast2 and faster2 slightly faster. 1.2 added combo1 thru 4 cfg files. added some pre made cfg files to setup the game better for you look/speed wise. there is stock.cfg (default settings) fast.cfg (shuts off all the hdr, film effects but keeps half lambert lighting and soft shadows) faster.cfg (same as fast but also turns off soft shadows and half lambert lighting) and doom3.cfg (trys to go back to stock doom 3 look). to use in game bring down the console "~" key and type no quotes "exec fast.cfg" press enter. Or any of the other names, you may have to restart the game to see properly.

How do I enable the console for this version of Doom? I have the steam version. Will enabling it in the steam version also enable it in this version? Also, how do I remap the console key to be something other than tilde? My tilde key doesn't work due to something spilling on my keyboard. I've looked everywhere and no one seems to have an answer for remapping that key that will work for me.
are you talking stock bfg, this is not for stock bfg. rbdoom3bfg has the console enabled

Soft shadows seem to be a problem on Nvidia cards - and AMD ones, though I'm not as certain about that. Is there a way to rectify that like using a very old driver? I seem to recall the sikkmod in Quake 4 didn't function well with some settings unless you reverted to a very old driver.
fast2.cfg is a bit faster with soft shadows, faster.cfg, faster2.cfg and doom3.cfg all use the much faster stencil shadows.
