Celestia is a 3-D astronomy program created by Chris Laurel. The program is based on the Hipparcos Catalogue (HIP) and allows users to travel through an extensive universe, modeled after reality at any speed, in any direction and at any time in history. Celestia displays and interacts with objects ranging in scale from artificial satellites to entire galaxies in three dimensions using OpenGL, from perspectives which would not be possible from a classic planetarium or other ground based display
Wow, very nice made. It's like a Hitchikers Guide through galaxie, only with the amount of information we gathered till now, but in that way very nice. Can u tell me how much time you spend to create this huge, little simulation of our galaxie or does it content the whole known universe, no matter if or not, it's a really amazing work!
I didnt create it,but i use this program for about 4 years and as far as i know it contains JUST EVERYTHING and also you can visit everything from planets to galaxies you can also land on objects. Also this software is based on real "facts",What i meant with real "facts"? well it contains all the exact positions of galaxies, stars, planets, moons e.t.c
If you want you can visit the official website for more info:shatters.net
BTW is made with c++ language programming
Celestia is a must have of standard usage among space sim mission designers who want to represent realistic solar systems.
