Update 2013-04-14 v2.0 | I saw a few posts that the Launcher was instantly crashing for some people, so i decided to make a neat little replacement that has also known community fixes for the game beeing laggy etc.
Install:
- Drop the Launcher at Steam\SteamApps\common\Age2_HD\
- Launch AoEII: HD normally via Steam
-------------------------------------------------------
Functions:
Community Fixes:
-MFill,-MSync,-DXLevel80:
Known to fix Framerate issues (-DXLevel80 won't set the App to DX8 but has an effect)
-Nostartup:
Skips the Intro-Movies
Compatibility Mode:
Launches the App in Win98/ME Mode with a few other Tweaks
Known to fix Framerate and Multiplayer-Lag Issues
Custom Commandline
Because i can't keep up as fast as possible if a new fix comes out
you can add them here until i decide to officially use them.
ScreenLock
If you are in posession of a Multi-Monitor Setup you probably know that
AoEII: HD won't lock you Mouse a.k.a your Mouse moves out of the Game while scrolling etc.
This Tool Locks your Mouse at a pre-defined Area so that won't happen anymore.
Force AoE to close
Closes the AoK HD.exe Process if it managed to bug itself in the closing Sequence once again.
-------------------------------------------------------
Known Issues:
This Launcher is not (and will never be) able to download Workshop Content!
If you want to download/update your Mods you will need to use the normal Launcher
-------------------------------------------------------
.NET Framework 4.5 may be required

Hey I have a problem: when I put ticks in the community fix boxes and then click play it askes me if I allow the program to change things and stuff. But when I click on yes it does not work because steam tells me the game is already running... any suggestions? I'd really like to use these fixes because these lags are driving me crazy :(. Hope my english was not to bad
You still have to Launch it through Steam, then it should work.
Steam workshop doesn't work with this. Other than that, it's great considering the regular game launcher doesn't work.
I am sorry about that, but there is no way of getting the workshop API for this :\
Thank you for great work. It didn't want to start via Steam/classic launcher at all. Yours starts the game 1 of 10 times :) Appreciate that.
why cant i find one english version of the game thats usable
It is still usable. Just extract the launcher.exe into the Age2HD directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Age2HD
(You may have installed Steam somewhere else). And, the 'Compatiblity Mode' and 'Use -Nostartup do not work anymore, so uncheck them. The launcher will only work if you load it from the steam menu for AoE II HD or AoE II (2013) as it is called now. Still a great alternative!
Could you post the source code for this? I would like to make an update to this, improve UI and add more things. Would this be possible?
I've been pretty much dead on here so sorry that i didn't respond earlier.
Seems that i deleted the sourcecode at some point, so no.
Oh, thats fine. Do you remember how you coded it? Like, I have created my own launcher in C# WPF .NET Core 3.1 and its fully functional right now. I was wanted to make a custom launcher for a mod I'm releasing on Steam Workshop for AoE II HD. I'm just stuck on how you managed to add the custom commands text box and the checkboxes, and then added that to the Process.Start command.
I hope you don't mind, but before I got in contact, I used a decompiler to see how you did it, as a basis for my own work, but that made me even more confused, and the decompile was pretty crap tbh. Some of the commands in your launcher no longer work, as they have been changed by the devs, so I wanted to add only the functional ones. Anyway, any help I would be thankful for.
