Change the menu strings of your Project Cartographer installation to resemble either the original Halo 2 Vista menu, or the OG Xbox menu.
The provided h2customlanguage.ini file includes three new menu string options for English. Updating Cartographer overwrites the language file, so remember to backup this file and replace it again with every Cartographer update. The h2customlanguage.ini file is located next to halo2.exe.
Instructions:
1. Replace h2customlanguage.ini in your Cartographer folder.
2. Open Halo 2.
3. Go to Cartographer > Advanced Settings > Change Language > English
4. Select the menu you want.
Included menu string options:
1.) Advanced (Recommended)
A balance between the OG Xbox menu’s look and feel, and the functionality provided by Cartographer. Everything is properly labeled and easy to understand. This is the recommended option for most players.
2.) Halo 2 Vista
Menu strings are set to look exactly like they did originally in Halo 2 Vista. This is the official look and feel of Halo 2 Vista, as it originally launched in 2007. For those who prefer making the game feel like the port originally did, pre-Cartographer.
3.) OG Xbox
Menu strings are set to look exactly like they do on the OG Xbox, but these options do not necessarily match their labels. Memorize the positions for each option, and what they did before using this.
Reminders for the OG Xbox values are included to guide you, should you desire a purist setting, without having to look it up online. Afterall, this option is for the hardcore purists only, who desire pure 2004 visuals over functionality.
