I have made a new navmesh for the 32 player map for Operation Smoke Screen to allow play with AI bots.
Note that this is not an exact copy of the original 32 player map.
There have been some changes to the static objects and flags:
Some of the flags have a bigger capture radius to make it easier for vehicles to capture them. A few
of the flags have been moved onto roofs to stop the vehicles getting stuck on them.
The wall layout at South Village has been changed to allow better vehicle access. There were too
many vehicles getting stuck going through the arched buildings. Only infantry will go through the
arches now.
The fences at the wind farm have been changed make it easier for the AI vehicles to drive around.
The actual area the navmesh covers is a lot bigger than the combat area of this map. If you do want
to make a custom map with a bigger area, it should work fine. The area on the left side of the map with the burning oil cisterns and derricks has a working navmesh as does the plateau on the right side of the map where the windmills are.
If you change the flag layout and start to experience random crashes try redoing your Strategic
Areas. Specifically make sure the ‘order positions’ for both infantry and vehicles are in places
where the navmesh exists and the soldiers and vehicles can reach them. Order positions that the AI
cannot reach will crash the level.
The lightmap was a bit tricky to do for this map. I have tried to get it as close to the original as I could.
Also included are the 3D object files (*.obj) used making the Navmesh. If you know how and wish
to edit them further they are in the folder location:
operationsmokescreen\server.zip\GTSData\output
I used python 2.3.4 to create the Navmesh with BF2Editor.
I used Blender 3.3 to edit the Navmesh obj files
Wow, awesome! This is one of my favourite maps and according to your description, the gameplay should be much better now. Thank you very much for your time and effort!
Your welcome. It was a bit of a rush trying to get it out before Christmas, but it was a lot easier than Operation Road Rage.
Cool, nice job! Well done! :)
It's great that someone is finally giving these old map the navmesh that they deserve. Well done mate!
How are you buddy? Just a question (not a request of any kind) can you take a look on this F-18 HuD Moddb.com , i mean can you fix/calibrate bars to stay parallel to the horizon (side bars & climb/dive), when you manage to find spare time of course and good will.
grazie per la comprensione :)
Thanks Gattobuono. Taraba Quarry is another on my list to do.
Well if you feel like making it a bit more single player friendly I'd be happy to add another crossing to the north of the dam, probably a bridge. That would help to avoid the ai clusterfuck that always occurs around the dam.
Apart from that, it's potentially a good map.
Let me know, it could be a fun project. :-)
Thank you for sharing, great work!
Enjoy!
very nice))
Thank you Andrejjdikunv.
Thanks!

No problem. Saw the picture. Will you be using the navmesh for your own mod?
Of course! With your permission.
Go ahead. No problem. Just mention me in the credits somewhere.
May I ask , I should use the original level client.zip or download the client.zip in the file???
Use what is in the downloaded zip file. See the PDF for installtion instructions.
If you use the original client.zip it will not work because some of the static objects (buildings etc) have been moved.
Good work!
Thanks
how to add the mod ?
There are instructions in a PDF with the download.
Moved TOW missile launcher at Turbine Hill flag to be inside the sandbag circle.
Made vehicle navmesh fixes mainly outside the combat area (for you map expansionists!)
