Developers of the “X-Ray Multiplayer Extension” with a demonstration of transferring all the functionality of the original Call of Pripyat to cooperative mode.
Reportedly this is not a full-scale project, but only a confirmation of the capabilities and a demonstration of what can be achieved using the current xrMPE dev build. The video material was recorded from a client connected to a dedicated server. No changes have been made to spawn compared to the original. Transferring tasks, logic, npc from the original game takes some time, but it is quite easy to do. The save system also works, as shown in the video, as well as the level changing functionality. The simulation still works in playerless levels, just like in single player mode. In fact, the developers have achieved an almost full-fledged single-player mode. The logic associated with multiplayer has also been significantly improved compared to the last public build. Some serious bugs related to lag and stuttering have been fixed, and there is now client prediction logic for a smooth game. However, there are still a few major and many minor bugs. You can see some of them in the video (double sound, wrong npc sound, object attached to hand for some reason, etc.). The authors use these developments as a test platform for possible further implementation in the project.
