ello Freeworlders. It's been a while since my last post, so I've recorded a quick update vlog for you all. Covered as topics are current graphical improvements, gameplay mechanics, and perhaps some information about a Beta.

If you like what you see, and have been playing, please don't forget to tell your friends, your communities you frequent and social sites like REDDIT/Twitter about this mod. Player word of mouth goes a long way and we'd appreciate any of the support we can get for this mod of ours! Thanks everyone!

Will you die if you hit an asteroid with high speed? Or if you hit them with any speed? Like it's in the movies and NOT like it's in the vanilla Freelancer?

Your shields will absorb one impact, usually (more if it's a really big ship), but after that, you'll go poof rather fast. On fighters, two impacts (bouncing back on the asteroid after the first impact counts) will kill you.

So, the velocities of the ship and the asteroid won't have any effect?

And I'm assuming it will be the same if two ships collide?

No, but fighters are rather weak to collisions in general. Collisions most certainly are more damaging at higher speeds, just like they are in vanilla Freelancer.

Yeah, but in vanilla Freelancer is very hard to die from collisions. You actually have to do that on purpose several times in hopes of doing it. So the asteroid fields never felt dangerous. Even the exploding gases, while a little more dangerous, were really a treat only with very weak light fighters and still needed at least 4-5 collisions for you to say: "Dammit, I might die soon if I'm not careful.".

That's just a scaling factor (ours is 200 times larger than vanilla's).

dude friendly fire FREAKING EPIC WORK,i mean this isnt "oh lets make a mod for fun" project this is a "lets make a mod with such craftsmenship that we should sell it for $60" and i think i speak for everyone when i say wed buy it at that price

Nope, not everyone lives in US or have a very good salary, so he/she can easily spend $60 for a single game. In my country this is about 10% of a good salary ("good" meaning way above average). It's sad, but true.

Another sad fact is that I people have to pay for it, fewer people will play it. And Freeworlds servers would need all the people they can get. So many nice mods are almost dead because there are not enough players in them: Troopers for UT2004, First Strike (CoD 2142)...

And besides, Star Wars is an intellectual property and they don't have any licenses and such, so Lucas Licensing before, Disney now will hunt down their ***** if they pull off a stunt like that. And that's not to mention the license holders of Freelancer, who, I'm sure, would also want a piece of the action (and rewards).

As I said: sad but true...

And usually there are some ways to take money from pay-willing players: donations, Kickstarter (probably a little late for you guys), don't know how Lucasfilm Ltd and Disney would feel about some paid premium content (e.g. the player can buy a TIE Defender a few times if he/she pays a dollar or the Imperial faction can build SSD only if they cash some pennies in the FW:ToW's online piggy-bank (and, of course, gather all of the necessary resources)).

But I doubt the LC and Disney would be too happy about the premium content.

I think the point FF was trying to make is that we the developers are probably very well aware of this fact. Nicco was just being enthusiastic.

Well done guys. I'd just like to say I've been following this mod ever since its conception way back and although it's been some long years with a few disappointments seeing this project evolve from just another Freelancer mod to something that is truly pushing the boundaries of anything the modding community has attempted so far has been a huge pleasure for me. With what looks to be an amazing meta, stunning graphics and an unprecedented level of content well anyone who doesn't appreciate this piece of art needs their head examined. Keep it up and I'm looking forward to release, whenever that is :)
