So, I'm a bit curious. Let's try and lay out what we have for a storyline here, and I can get to work with some dialogue trees and such. Free time's getting smaller, though, if you couldn't tell. :P
Also, why don't we just have an overall status update? I know Sys is doing some good work, and I've been trying to up the PR department-side of things. But what's cracking with the rest of you? How're the computer upgrades going, Big Three? How's the coding going with Shaboom? Let's just take a headcount and start getting our bearings on what we each should be doing for official here, at least to help me. :P
Sorry, we had no internet access for a while and we just rescued our computer from the jaws of oblivion so to speak, we do have email now. OK, Lets see who we have in the team. Templar, mapper. Nord, technical person. Byzantine, writer and relatively awesome guy. Discreetpenguin, writor. I.P.A.D, writor. shaboomdude, writer/coder. And systemz, modeler. I was right about to update some things before the computer fizzled out, I will try to get an update soon.
OK here's some of the story so far. The Character creation begins with telling that your character was an abandoned as a baby near the spine, then it says you we're found and then raised by a man who was a- then you do the regular native choices. The next choice is pretty much the same. In the choice after that, for no apparent reason, Galbatorix sends Urgals that kill your family and burn your home, then it says you promised your self that you would- I have a couple ideas for chocies here like "Dig up your foster Uncles grave to get the treasure that was buried with him." Then, as you wander the spine and are drawn to a cave were you find a egg that glowed-then you pick the color of your dragon. How does it sound so far?
So no matter what at the beginning you are a dragon rider? That seems a bit OP
A little, but your person will have no training on how to be a Dragon Rider in the first part of the game you won't have magic, you won't have food, you'll only have the shirt on your back and your weapons, (And if you pick the gravedig choice, Old Uncle Herman's cache of gold.)
I agree that the egg should be given at the get-go, but it doesn't hatch for a little while. I think it should be an item usable from the action menu to hatch it, which triggers text that explains what happens. Do the choices about the uncle have any effect on your inventory? They should, say, you have sellable stuff if you gravedig.
Yes, we didn't want the egg to hatch at the beginning. As for your second question, indeed, you get extra gold, but negative honor.
Awesome. Makes perfect sense.
The game seems centered mainly around you joining the Varden and defeating the Empire. I think that it would be neat if you could have an option for your family to die in a way that doesn't invole Galbatorix so it would be less awkard to join the Empire
The player doesn't know it at first, you just think urgals raided your home. At that time no one knew that Galb had the Urgals under his control. And the player could join the Empire to get a chance to kill Galb and/or usurp his throne. And of course, the same person who dug up their uncle won't exactly care who killed their foster parents.
Agreed. Maybe your family doesn't even have to die violently. Unk could just get old and die one day while you're out. It'll also remove the age-old cliche of 'dead parents'. :P
I think that we should ajust some of the options in character creation to better fit Alegaesian cultures.
Yes, of course, I was just saying the most major things we would change.
Is there going to be a main storyline quest(s) because if so I would like to at least get an outline done pretty quick.
Well, it's kind of difficult because it's still in the workings and we just had to rework some of it. But we do have a protagonist. I'll tell you guys about him in a later post.
