Well, it's been a long wait, but QExpo is finally here! For those of you who haven't heard of it, QExpo is an online event where Quake 1 modders release a bunch of stuff. It's happened before, in 2001, but the domain (which was kept for archival purposes) was unfortunately recently hacked :(
Today, July 5, is the opening day, and the event will close on the 13th. Here is a schedule of the events that will occur over these blessed nine days.
How it works is similar to Real Life events such as E3. People set up their 'booths', which they use to post news, screenshots, downloads, etc. of the things they are doing during the QExpo. The main page will also have a record of exciting news (mods being released, etc), for those who don't want to browse through all the booths.
Not only will people be posting news and releasing things during the QExpo, but there will also be (Quake 1) community events taking place. Some of these events include turtle mapping (people have 6 days to create a map), speed modding (people have less than a day to create a mod), speed mapping (people have less than a day to create a map) and speed running (people record demos of zooming through levels at top speed - see Quake Done Quick for details).
I will be posting updates every day on moddb to inform you all on the things that have been created and released during the QExpo.
