The short lifespan and high infant mortality rate that was previously considered normal in Y.shangyouensis stock has been found to be linked to defects in the cloning process. Alongside these two primary abnormalities several others were caused by these defects including:
- Overgrown Crests
- Decreased Size
- Shortened Legs
- Enlarged Throat Pouch
- Exposed Teeth leading to mass Tooth Loss

For these reasons all Y.shangyouensis individuals are being officially recalled for culling and replacement with new individuals bred from new stock without these defects.
