As VRFocus reports, EA has revealed that its PlayStation VR-exclusive Star Wars Battlefront game will be releasing later this year. In a Q4 2016 EA earnings call, Andrew Wilson, EA CEO and Director, revealed the release date - along with the fact that the game would be powered by the Frostbite engine:

"Our unparalleled Frostbite engine will power more of our games this year, including an all-new Star Wars Battlefront experience for PlayStation VR."

Take note of the use of the phrase "Star Wars Battlefront experience" here. When publishers and developers use this, they are usually not talking about a full, "traditional" game package. In other words, don't expect to be able to play the entirety of the Star Wars Battlefront that exists now, but just in PlayStation VR.

We'd wager that what EA is making is akin to Supermassive Games' PlayStation VR-exclusive version of Until Dawn, called Until Dawn: Rush of Blood. It's an arcade-style rail shooter set in the Until Dawn universe, and the developer specifically mentions it's not DLC for the original Until Dawn, nor is it an Until Dawn sequel.

LucasFilm's ILM Experience Lab is experimenting with its own Star Wars-themed VR content, called Trials on Tatooine. It's logical to expect that whatever EA is planning with its Battlefront VR experience, it will hit many of the same notes - motion control lightsaber combat, laser deflection, and an exquisitely-rendered rocky desert planet.
