Our Greenlight campaign has been going great! This is our % of the way to the top 100 on Greenlight at the time of this announcement:

I'm going to cut the formalities to speak personally for a bit. My name is Lucas. I'm the coder/artist/designer/everything-except-for-music of Painters Guild. My friend is making the awesome music, and the team is just the two of us. But I'm just a guy. Seriously, I'm just an average person who loves games. Sometimes it feels like I shouldn't even be here, like I don't deserve this and like I'm way in over my head. I hear in my mind "go play games instead, you can't really make them!". But it is what I love to do. I can make them and I will!

Painters Guild is my dream game. I have been making games for a while now, learning the craft, and I feel like I'm ready to create my masterpiece. This is not some quick game for a quick buck, it's thegame that I would like to play. And it doesn't exist - yet. With your votes, you're making my dream come true. I hope Painters Guild gives you as much enjoyment as making it has been giving me. We are working hard to create a great game.

Development is going well. Coming in February, the next version will be set in Venice during the 16th century, featuring a bigger guild with multiple floors, more space and more painters. It will focus on giving players the ability to hire procedurally generated artists. Here is an image showing how searching for new apprentices will look:

Search for procedurally generated artists in Venice. More images soon!

But it's not over yet. The latest greenlight batch was announced just this week, which means it will take a long time until the next greenlit titles are announced. Meanwhile, other games are being submitted to Greenlight and we could lose our position. We need to keep getting votes to make sure Painters Guild is greenlit. We can't stop now! Tell your friends, tweet it, post in forums and communities and help Painters Guild reach Steam!

Lastly, here is an image showing some random names we're working on:

There are over a thousand names and even more surnames. If you'd like your name to be in the game and if it's vaguely italian, post in the comments and we'll see what we can do! Suggestions are welcome too. We've already put Mario and Luigi in the names list.

Play the first alpha version of Painters Guild at our website!
