Post news Report RSS Paintbrush tool demo video (high definition)

One of the benefits to making your own engine from scratch is that it's really easy to add new tools to it that do exactly what you need. Here's one that Phillip just whipped up: a paintbrush tool that auto-places foliage and other stuff.

To create natural environments in Overgrowth, we will need to be able to quickly populate the landscape with lots of semi-randomized rocks and vegetation. One of the benefits about writing your own engine from scratch is that we can add new tools very rapidly that do exactly what we want. Phillip made this paintbrush tool in a day or two for quick object placement. It’s still in its early stages, but it's pretty usable so here is a video of it in action!

Excellent :D Can't wait. The map editor reminds me of Far Cry 2 which is in NO way a bad thing. Can't wait for this game :D

the editor is like a bonus game :)

really beautiful! looks intuitive and is obviously very fast. It doesn't look confusing like most other editors and displays only what's necessary. Reminds me of Vue somehow, just faster and in realtime.
Damn impressive updates from you guys!!!

Very nice! What is with those pillar of spikes that looked like trees?

Those trees are actually like 500 feet tall, they were just scaled down for some reason.

Mmm... I think a lot of details will produce lag during the game, by what kind of processor you are working? minimum by work in a Pentium 4... Ok, that is my PC, more maybe would not work. T_T
