So, it is true that Omnicide will now be having a re-release. Again. Again Again. Yes yes yes, I know I've been giving you all the run around but there have been two issues that I've had to deal with.
1. BF2 master user databases going offline
2. MasterCA's request of not editing the mod
I'll tackle the first problem. Well, it's quite self explanatory. No user database = no online gameplay. However, the geniuses over at Battlelog and I have been working to add Omnicide into the mods with online multiplayer support. What does that mean? OMNICIDE IS BACK! Yep, you can go and kick some zombie arse with your friends on servers.
The second issue is rather sensitive to me. I never managed to pay my respects to Ryan (MasterCA) and many people have asked if they could take over Omnicide. I refused every time, and I still do to this day. Omnicide is something very precious to me, not only because it is an awesome piece of work, but because it represents a time in my life where Ryan and I had a lot of fun. We spent countless nights coding, modeling, animation, texturing and having a good laugh creating this mod. It's with these memories that I dedicate any future release to him, and being the stubborn bugger he was, I doubt he'd like it.
If he could see how popular and appreciated this mod still is, I'm sure he'd be one of the happiest people in the world. Your continued support and enjoyment of this mod drives me to make it better for everyone of you.
I would also like to appologise to you all for your patience, It's been a very long time since the last release of Omnicide and to those of you still waiting or have simply come here to play again, I think you so very, very much.
What's the plan?
I will be doing weekly streams of my work so far on Omnicide via my Twitch, found here:
Twitch
I also stream other games, but Omnicide will be one of the big ones.
What do I want from you?
First, make a twitch account.
Second, follow the above stream
Third, make an account at Battlelog
Fourth, await me to anounce the beta release
I will be giving the beta out to a select group of people. To qualify, you must satisfy the above criteria. Together, we can make Omnicide big again and attract more people. I'm not asking of this for myself, but for Ryan. He did about 65% of the work and it deserves more people to see it.
All the beta testers will be involved on the stream and will be the first to have the pre-release of the mod before it is given out to the public.
Any Details or Teasers?
Unfortunately not, currently I have added in a lot more weapons and tweaked some game mechanics. More work still needs to be done but your support is needed. There are days where I feel that the work I'm putting in is not good enough for the standard of Omnicide, and this is where EVERYONE's opinion matters.
This mod is from me sincerely to you. It is a tribute, a farewell and a thank you to Ryan.
So, spread the word guys and girls. Omnicide is back, with a passion.
I still remember his American Sniper videos, those were great. I'm glad to see you still working on this.
Hi Dann!
His work certainly was incredible back in the day and Omnicide still stands to show how good he was. I won't be working on it alone, I want community input as to what everyone wants, issues with previous releases and much more.
Thanks for your patience with me :)
'son of a bastard'
That is nice news! What do you plan for the first update if I might ask?
There won't be several updates, simply a new release. I'm planning on changing the gameplay quite a bit with addition of a lot more content. Details will be released once they're playable in game :)
I don't know coding, but is there a way to make the zombies stop running from grenades?
This is part of their AI behaviour to make it more tricky to kill large groups of them, but also as a method to disperse them.
Its back?
This time i gonna play it on a new rig :)
Are you still working on this mod?
Uhm.... Are you still working on the mod? Or is it dead?
I'm sorry, I've just stumbled upon the article: I remember that "Omnicide FINAL" was the last installment, but it's dated 2011 whilst the article is from 2015. Did this new re-release that Jay announced never really came out publicly? Thank you.
Doesn't look like it.
