For the few observant visitors that noticed, the past few days the ModDB staff have been frantically testing out the Mod Database's newest feature. Forget your dog, forget school, forget everything - because finally, after 3 years the ModDB has a download system IN PLACE and working (well nearly working!)
At present, it is still in beta - but we are pretty damn confident you'll love it, so please bear with us while we kick our mirror servers into action and begin serving files. In the mean time, Mod Administrators begin uploading your files!
In the unlikely event that you stumble across a bug (even this site isn't perfect we know that!) - please contact us. Additionally if you are interested in providing a mirror, please get in touch and we'll show you how we can help your company reach our community. As always mod hard, play hard and keep checking back for more!

That at the moment you can only UPLOAD files. The download part will be active in the next couple of days. We are presently purchasing and fitting out a d/l system. So please everyone be paitient, you have waited 3 years.. i'm sure we can all wait 3 more days ;)

You need to pat yourself on the back. In 3 years you have gotten this site this far. To be your age and have this skill and do it for fun is just another great aspect of moddb.com. You deserve some kind of award but since I cant give that to ya Ill just say thank you.
I know i speak for many when I say the site was what the mod community needed when it launched and I loved ya for it. To think that you are not finished that there is more your plotting.

Hopefully mod teams will provide links back to this site (mirrors) when they release a download.
I can also say that if things go as planned, the Battlefield: Apocalypse BF2 mod team will use MODDB as one of their first release download mirrors!
We might even put up some links back to the site on our mainpage as well.

- modDB will not become a chargeable site, ever. The most we're going to do (and even this is fairly unlikely) is start offering subscriber only features such as pre-release interviews, exclusive downloads (but no 'waits' for those of you who haven't paid, you just won't get the content!), extra mod notification features (for example, news releases straight to your inbox) and some other goodies.

For the money I contributed about 3 months ago, its about time.

modders depend upon interviews and such as publicity
they're only pre-release interviews, they'll get out to the public eventually i would guess, congrats on the dl server!

but why java?
- modDB doesn't accept donatations afaik, so I don't know where you sent your money!
- The Java means that you can do multiple uploads of bigger files, with features such as file resume. A HTTP upload facility will be made available for small files later on, however we suggest you use the Java since it supports more features which make your and our lives easier.
i believe he means when he brought an ad banner which is classed as a donation - we are just kind and allow those donating to receive a little ad space!

Tei, modwatch is already tied into the download system. whenever they upload a file you should receive an alert
INtense! congratulations!!!! I can't believe the moddb has come so far in so short a time! it's awesome that we're finally hosting mods!!!!! INtense! I hope that this is everything you wanted, and congrats on finally reaching the point that you have set for the modDB since it's conception.
