For those of you who have been tactfully avoiding the conversations, modDB will be present at the Free Play 2005 expo in Melbourne, Australia.
Free Play is the Australian equivalent of E3 - a three day extravaganza of what's new, what's coming up, and come of the coolest developments in independent gaming. Best of all, modDB will be playing a big part in the proceedings, including a speech by our very own ForK on why the game you buy doesn't have to be the game you play.
If you're in the vicinity of ACMI in Federation Square, Melbourne then feel free to grab a ticket (Or check the Free Play website for more details) and hop in. Find any of the modDB team (All in modDB shirts), tell them your modDB username, and walk out with some goodies. Even better, take a walk around the workshops and stay for some of the speakers to find out where the independent gaming world is, and perhaps more excitingly; where it's going to.
If you can't make it down there, modDB will be giving you daily roundups, as well as live chats over in IRC. If you want to have a chat about it beforehand, then hit the official forum thread.
Extremely excited that moddb has a booth. Should be a great event and it will be great to see all the Australian gamers turn up!

There is no e3 style event - there are no boths
Its basicly a Indy GDC - but with 3 days of talk and 2 hours of demo on the last day (What is known as the 3e.1b)
If you want an austrlian e3, then please dont call free-play one - it is not

Hmm if there was a bit more notice I probally would have flown there and attended 8). maybe next year.

actually amckern, as much as you think you are right, your actually wrong and I'll tell you why. Sure you may have been a volly last year, but this year its changed. Firstly, there is no one left from the FreePlay committee last year.. its being organised by totally new people. Secondly there are booths, because moddb has one. Thirdly, there is an expo on the Sunday where new games and mods are shown off by their respective devlopers. I do beleive Dystopia will be there in force also with a stand. There are also mini events such as lans and breakfasts where people can get together and mingle with the big head game developers. The LAN is where they will be showing new mods and demos then they have a seperate demo room to view the new indi games and to play the new indi games. So honestly, it's nothing like any freeplay that has been on before.
Oh, got to love that Aulstalia. But that Queens Lands air is smelling a bit damp, with the water. :P
